That reminds me of when I first saw an episode. So insane and I was completely lost. You can find some episodes of the real thing on YouTube. That clip only gives you a tiny glimpse of the madness that was Sábado Gigante.

My sons and I met at a mexican joint recently to catch up, their Mom is Mexican so it goes without saying that her food is best, and it would be hard to argue. All perspective though I guess. Cali really has an awesome spread of food though, like pho in the sunset district of SF.

My wife is 15 years younger than me, and all it's really done is given me the opportunity to introduce her to nerd cultural treasures she missed growing up in the 90s, like Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, and Krull. I did subject her to Hell Comes to Frogtown, but mentioned that it wasn't a good movie, so she didn't get her hopes up.

Honestly, the hardest thing for me to convey is why my fondness for 50's SF movies exist (and to be fair, a big part of it is nostalgia) but even she understands why I consider Them! and Forbidden Planet in a different category from the rest...

I live in the middle of nowhere in California and I still have access to pho, bibimbap dolsat, curry, pad thai, sushi, to say nothing of all the wild hippie fusion nonsense that's everywhere in CA that's usually hit or miss but when it hits...

Some of the only good food that I can't get where I live is traditional korean bbq.

I don't live anywhere near the Asian American enclaves of the San Gabriel Valley or the San Francisco Bay and there are more Thai restaurants than pizza places. It's great but I know probably pretty out of step for most of the US.
