D&D (2024) DMG 2024: The Planes

Both are in Tales of the Yawning Portal.
Yes, but they were from 3E, when dungeons were important to WotC.
I also think Phandelver has good examples of dungeons,
Which ones?
Undermountain is full of good examples for high level,
We will have to agree to disagree on that one. I don't think DotMM is well designed.
and Tomb of Annihilation is a good example of a deathtrap dungeon.
I have not read that one.
They also have several other anthology books with decent dungeons in them.
Which ones? I own Candlekeep, but not the others.

Yup I've said before that WotC gave away the rules for free, so the one thing they can leverage for a unique experience is the Lore.
Honestly the rules I wish they'd give away for free are the bastion rules. I really want to tear them apart and incorporate the parts I like into Level Up's stronghold system, but I'm not paying them $50 for the privilege. Oh, well.

Tomb is also the closest WotC 5e gets to a hexcrawl.

Indeed. That, and whatever settings they open to DMs Guild are my only real interest in WotC's doings beyond curiosity and the occasional hard-to-resist rant.
You must be using a different definition than what I am familiar with! ;)

If it wasn't clear, the above comment was supposed to gentle sarcastic / funny nudge. This seems redundant to me, but I don't think such intent is always properly received with this medium

It was definitely tongue-in-cheek. Sarcasm appreciated.

First of all for all or most of the changes to 2024 I don’t like there is a bright side and rationale.

In the old days a lot of our games had a lot behind the paywall of hard earned experience. A lot of things we simply did not experience as a result.

I think putting rarer stuff up front is intended to make it less rare and more accessible. With greater focus on telling stories, you don’t want a restrictive pallette.

And honestly it’s not all bad. I am starting to see that I do enjoy some of that too and miss it when it’s gone.

Some exceptional things are made less exceptional with intention. There are tieflings and aasimars and so on so it is not a stretch to think some might have a reckoning on another plane.

Or I am just wrong.

I still have a hard time seeing Spelljammer as a planar game. The Astral thing never sat well with me. I still think wildspace and the Astral should be separate.
Well you can think that but the printed books that people consume these days say otherwise, and so the conversation proceeds as such.
