My birthday is Christmas Even. I got some friends to agree to try out BattleTech for a one-shot as my birthday gift. This was a mech I painted for the game.

I love the Highlander! Was this a faction scheme you were aiming for?

The gimmick was the players were a group of pirates trying to raid the Whoville Arms Factory to steal its new tech. They struck after the great party the staff held on Christmas Eve, so most of the defenders were drunk or asleep.

I was a bit too ambitious in what I planned for a one-shot (two waves on the way in, then upgrading their mechs with new tech so they could fight a final wave led by Santa on the way out). Instead, the party fought a reinforced lance of lights and VTOLs, and then we'd already played for 3 hours, so I had Santa show up.

He landed some solid hits, but ended up taking an engine hit and being pegged by infernos that made his to-hit chances pretty timid, but one of the players happened to end his turn within jump jet range, so I had Santa attempt a Highlander Burial as a last ditch attack. He was hurtling through the sky toward a hapless Archer when a PPC hit his cockpit and vaporized jolly old St. Nick.

Finished painting the figures for the Worms boardgame (I bought the Armageddown verison with extra everything. collectors edition contains almost all of the figures, and retail is way less.). First figures I paint in like 30 years.
