Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

Some amazing work in this thread.

I do what I can. Got these two done today. With some terrific help from a friend.
I notice a little touch up I need to do.

Work in progress. I stripped the paint from a set of Games Worship ogryns. Ogryns are like ogres except GW can copyright the former. I haven't really contemplated any hobby goals until the last few days. What I think I'm going to do is really focus on some technical aspects. Getting better at blending, painting eyes, and interesting textures. For the rusty sword, I stippled on brown and orange following it up by using a sponge to apply an iron color. It's not a bad look, but I think I have tetanus now. I also tried a little free hand to apply some stripes on the pants. It's not bad, but the stripes probably need to be a bit wider.

I'm going to whittle down the number of unpainted miniature I have, once again limiting my purchases this year. My most ambitious project will be the gargantuan red dragon from WizKids I bought two years ago. It remains unpainted and unloved in my wife's office. I'm not sure what or where I'll put it once painted though, this beast his impractical for use as a miniature and I don't have any place to display it.

Absolutely love that rusty blade!
One piece of advice I might give you is to re-apply some skin colour over what has obviously been a generous application of flesh-wash to neaten it up a little bit.

Oh, this was an little experiment in flesh. There are four other minis in the group, each flesh painted using a different method. The problem is I've forgotten how I painted each one. I'm pretty sure this is the one I used contrast/speed paints on. I have never been successful using speed paints for flesh other than thinning it a bit and using for a wash.

I've been using speed paints for flesh. I like the result for table-ready miniatures, but I don't paint at your level. All of those Death May Die characters were done using speed paints.
