That movie was funny.

I wasn't really thinking "comedy" though -- just a takedown.

Its the only thing I remember from the movie. Jason was so dead pan and it was such a spot on caricature immediately came to mind with your comment.

Though, I dont think it would work as a straight film. Cant go into why, probably for the best.

I would say that's what both Matt Helm and Flint were. They took the Bond concept and took it to near ridiculousness of camp, but not quite over the line into comedy.

I was watching Upgraded last night and Archie Renaux might have potential to grow into the role. He may not have the acting chops (yet) and is a little younger than some of the other contenders but he has a good look to him. Not sure if he was mentioned already up thread.

Not an exact copy of what you are saying, but the comedy spy movie with Melissa McCarthy has such a character played well by Jason Statham.

There are a lot of good comedic sendups of the genre. I like Top Secret and Johnny English was funny.

I think this is all besides the point. Its not making a joke of the spy genre, its making a note of the hyper masculine Bond archetype.

That seems a bit self contradictory to me. Because if the position is that James Bond cannot be played by a white male then there is simply no point to making any Bond or Bond adjacent movie. And hence "anyone" becomes "no one al all" .
