Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Back in college I worked as a bus boy/dishwasher/kitchen assistant in a local chain restaurant. The stove was gas, and in order to light it you'd turn the gas on, step back fifteen feet, light a match and throw it at the stove.
Coincidentally, this also seems to be the same sequence of gestures that casts a 15'-radius fireball spell. 🔥

Okay, I now feel better about our heater...

Some people find someone stepping out of a game very disruptive for a variety of different reasons. Doesn't mean they should complain to you about it, but its a reason for them to feel bad about it.
It was a natural point I felt since we had done the system hopping routine for a year and a half. At first it was fun getting to know each other but then the constant churn of game systems and genres just made me lose interest. Particularly since they wanted to go into a genre I was very much not interested in.

I tried my best to tactfully explain, but it still must have felt like rejection to them. It ended fine we chat seldomly but are all friendly still.

Just nodding at the gaming when your heart is not in it. I very much like those folks and would game again, but I want to make the most of my game time and I’m always evaluating if I’m doing that. YMMV

We had a GM who would start us on a system, play it for a few months, and then just when it was getting good he'd get bored, and start something new. Pity, because he was our best RP GM. I wasn't as good but ran stuff for much longer, so more players were satisfied.

Our group had a guy like this for a long time. It wasn't that he was the "Forever GM" so much as he was always the guy with a new idea, often before what he'd running had resolved much. Playing in so many super-short, barely (at best) resolved campaigns might be a large part of why the campaigns I've been running have gone for 5+ years.

On the finding games online front, I’ve found a lot more success using dedicated Discord servers (particularly not paid for games) than using Roll20 find games space. Then again, the thought of using Roll20 again annoys me to no end so take that with a grain of salt.

I think that's right though, given my own limited experience. Might be a bigger problem if you're absolutely wedded to one specific VTT.

Huh. All this time I've been throwing a little lump of bat poop, as the book instructs, but with no effect!
Maybe that's for electric stoves?

I've only got a little experience with discord. How do you find dedicated servers for gaming? Is there some sort of search mechanism?

There is a search though many things have numerous servers. For example there are regional servers for Battletech all over the us and Europe. So, usually it takes a bit of joining and finding the right server for you.
