You know what lore bugs me? How Gale in BG3 apparently slept with Mystra, despite this incarnation of Mystra never demonstrating the slightest inclination to behave like Mystra 1.0. Yes, Midnight does have the combined memories of all incarnations of Mystryl, Mystra, and herself right now... but Larian seems to have completely forgotten about Midnight.

they did not complain, they reported that players are complaining

"New Dungeons and Dragons playtest material released by Wizards of the Coast has some Forgotten Realms fans up in arms about a supposed lore change. The new Unearthed Arcana playtest includes eight new subclasses, but the kerfuffle is centered around just one of them, a new Paladin subclass called the Purple Dragon Knight."

"I’ll hold up my hands here and confess: until about 15 minutes ago I wasn’t aware of the history of the Purple Dragon Knights of Cormyr either, but my understanding now is they are not renowned for being great lovers of dragons.

Essentially, Cormyr has a history of being ravaged by the scaly beasts. The military order of the Purple Dragons was named after a particularly nasty, particularly old black DnD dragon called Thaugalor, whose scales faded from black to a purple hue with age. After Cormyr threw off the tyrannical yoke of this dragon, it was inspired to name its military after the beast.

So now describing the Purple Dragon Knights as riders of amethyst dragons seems all wrong. Before this the Purple Dragons had nothing to do with amethyst dragons, and they certainly didn’t ride them."

Wait...so its not even this guys opinion, but a repeat of MY opinion?

Then at this moment in history, I really dont care.

Oh no! WotC made something in the Forgotten Realms cooler than it used to be! Quick, everyone needs to yell at them until they stop!

Honestly, I bet it is adjusted before it hits the books. We were able to save the Tiefling description, maybe the Dragon Knight is also saved.

Wotc only cares about growing profits, D&D is just a prostitute at this point. Anything management thinks will drag a dollar out of someone is a great plan. It is hard to tell if the business plan is untreated ADD, or Schizophenia. There is no clear plan, and so many unfinished projects for a company this big. It's like they owe the mob and are about to be kneecapped. How long until another sundering to retcon this mess?

I am not gonna read the article as it sounds like clickbait to me. I am just gonna say that as long as I remember the Forgotten Realms has always been subject to dramatic changes, often driven by rules edition changes. Maybe not exactly "ret-cons" but frankly I got tired of FR rehashing and rearranging a couple decades ago, and I do not envy a bit those who try to figure out what canon is.
