Project Sigil Sigils not dead yet. Claim a mimic mini for Sigil at dndbeyond.

D&D's 3D virtuial tabletop.
It is a digital mini. Is that like a participation award coming from them.
The team is giving away the stuff they had done, rather than let it never see the light of day. We can snark about the VTT, but the people involved in creating it likely had a lot of pride and took their work seriously. Even if only a handful of people ever use it, the content they made deserves to be seen by however many people end up using Sigil.

I also have a hope that in some way it works out for them.

So often, work done for a cancelled project (in almost any field) never gets seen by the public, which makes applying for future jobs much harder.

I hope the people who made the chest and mimic combo are able to use it when they apply for future 3D modeling jobs. They don't need to be judged on the business judgement of the people running the show, just by what they produced in a workplace setting as professional 3D modelers.

Someone on discord says they got an email from DnDBeyond with more mins to come.

Just saw a marketing email from DnD beyond to claim more minis and it mentions the “Animals Pack”

COMING SOON
ANIMALS PACK
Unleash the beasts!
This pack contains the Axe Beak, Crocodile, Griffon, Mastiff, Panther A, and Panther B digital minis (all unpainted).
Available starting April 2, 2025

... so they are giving it out free to "prove" they are still developing Sigil.

Or at least that's what the pessimistic me says, after all, it's almost Friday...

The suggestion they are trying to "prove" anything is not supported by evidence.

They have this system. They could just throw it away, or they can keep it around and see how it goes.

If they give it to D&D Beyond, and have a few folks working to maintain it, then if they want to pick it back up in a while, that remains an option. They can always throw it away later.
