What videogames are you playing in 2025?

I'll likely get sucked back into Crusader Kings 3 with the new Mongol expansion.

Overall, it's been a great year for games.
•Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
•Oblivion
•new CK3 expansion
•Baldur's Gate 3 update that makes me want to start a new game

I have lost considerable PC time because my wife and daughters are obsessed with this game. I think they're on Day 40-something right now; I don't think they found Room 46 yet.
I got pretty fortunate; on day 18 I got a Shrine boon that added 8 Courtyards to my deck (which I had upgraded to provide 2 gems); the following day I placed the Root Cellar (which increases the number of digging spots). I ended up with a full house, like 11 minor keys and 20 gems leftover, and way more than enough steps to get everything done to get into Room 46.

Civ VII also came out this year. Not to mention two quality modern ports of a pair of classic PSX RPGs each in Suikoden & Lunar. Clair Obscura: Expedition 33 is apparently doing extraordinarily well also. And my GOTY is already out, of course.

Clair Obscur - Expedition 33 might be my favorite of the last 5 years or so… The earnest storytelling combined with an insanely fun combat system that rewards dodging and parrying while including fun turn-based resource management. I adore both the beauty in the face of death aesthetics that feel so very French in the best way possible…
So many people are raving about this I feel like I’d better give it a go. But I like my turn-based combat XCOM-style, not jRPG style. And quick-time events sound terrible to me: quick is the opposite of what I want. On the other hand, Torment had garbage combat, and I loved that.

Just wrapped another day in Blue Prince. Figured out some clues and got some deeper computer access, and now I need to put the game down for a bit, because I am completely emotionally devastated.

Holy crap this game

I suppose they're technically QTEs, but it's a lot more comparable to the Judgment Ring system in the Shadow Hearts series, if you've played that. The parrying and dodging part makes it more like a turn-based Sekiro, which I love.

RIGHT?! Avoiding spoilers, but all four factions are fairly horrific…
I did support the Huana in the end; it’s their home and I reckon they should be allowed to make their own mistakes and fix their own problems. It seemed at least they were on an upward trend by the end, even if I needed to get my hands dirtier than I would have liked.

I found the ship combat relatively painless, though tedious enough that I usually went straight to boarding and melee combat to save a couple of minutes.

Anyhow, on to my next playthrough!
