Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The trouble with that as an analogy for RPGs is you’d first need to remove all non-pizza food options. Then wonder why people who hate the only option are complaining about it. Because it’s either effectively or literally the only option.
I have yet to see a town where pizza was the only food option.

The most common option? Sure.
The most popular option? Usually.
The default option? Sometimes.
The best-selling or most successful option? Without a doubt.
But the only option? I've never seen it.

I have, but its been a long time. If you are willing to play online you get a group for anything nowadays. The best analogy would be you can phone or online order a pizza from anywhere but you can only go and sit down at two spots. Some folks refuse to eat the pizza at home.

To me the issue seems to be that a lot of people seem to view being able to eat their food how they want as being the only way to have it. If I can't order tacos and sit at a table in your restaurant, then I guess I'll go get pizza and sit at their table while complaining about how terrible pizza is and how I wish there was a good taco place. The whole time I am ignoring the taco truck in the parking lot across the street because there's nowhere to sit there and I would have to take the tacos home to eat them.

Does "Its the only thing that doesn't involve cooking at home" count? Because I know of at least one interstate support town (which is to say a strip with a gas station, a pizza joint, and a couple other non-food places, along with a scattering of houses) that's like that. You can argue whether its a "town" in some senses, but given the next nearest place is 15 miles away, close enough for most purposes. (Yeah, I'm guessing the grocery runs are quite a trip).

Exactly the point. Pizza isn’t the only option for food. “Pizza” effectively is the only viable option in RPGs. With 95+% market share it’s like pulling teeth to get people to try anything but “pizza.”
I'll always maintain that the best way to convince someone to join you for a cheeseburger is to cook a cheeseburger for them... not complain constantly about their favorite pizza joint.
And on the off chance you get enough people to try something else once, they won’t shut up about how much better “pizza” is than whatever’s on your table.

Hey, do you have any interest in the kittens I posted about upthread?

Maybe a pic of Blotch being particularly cute on a Chessex battlemat will help you rehome your kittens with gamers ...
