Spoilers The War Between the Land and the Sea (spoilers)

We watched the new re-edited version of The Sea Devils on iPlayer just before this, but really struggled with it. It's aged so badly. No amount of editing can save those 70s production values, terrible choreography, and plodding men in rubber suits falling over.
Well it is the first Doctor Who I remember watching, and my rose-tinted nostalgia goggles tell me it’s still awesome.

There's a big problem with this show. It's called "The War Between The Land and the Sea", and there's just one episode left this coming weekend and.... they forgot to show us the war. There has been no war between the land and the sea. There have been some meetings, and one (very silly) terrorist attack, but there has been a distinct lack of wars.

Maybe they don’t have the budget to do it justice.

There That was no terrorist attack, they just returned to sender a lot of stuff, all at once. The terrorist attack was the humans delivering an exploding ball by suicide bomber...

It was obvious from the start of the first episode that this was related to the Dr. Who IP (the mention of UNIT in the first five minutes). I initially didn't have those expectations of this miniseries, but whit that my expectations changed drastically. No matter the budget, Dr.Who and related IP (like Torchwood), always have a certain style to them, I would call 'distinctly British'... Just like so many UK series tend(ed) to be so different from US productions. Just as the Swedish series also have a distinct style...

It's not bad. Sure, they could have done more in less time. I'm waiting for the last episode, but it could be that the end of the miniseries IS the start of the war between land and sea. Or it's the figurative 'war' between land and sea that was pretty much represented by all the garbage that was returned to sender...

EDIT: Mumbles something about lack of sleep...

A “war” does not need to involve two armies shooting at each other. There are cold wars, trade wars, electronic wars, information wars, guerrilla wars wars on terror etc.

Yes. The terrorist attack was the humans delivering an exploding ball by suicide bomber... thus there was a terrorist attack. What an odd thing to say! :D

Terrorism: "the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims."

Even if somehow nobody got hurt by the massive trash storms it was 100% a violent action AND it was meant to intimidate.
