It can be unattractive to them even as a GM if they think it will make it hard for them to find new players when they resist said "scary idea".
The player to GM ratio is heavily skewed towards GMs. Unless they live in a very small and isolated town and refuse to get online -or if they run a very very oscure game- a given GM is bound to never run out of prospective players.

On the one hand, I'm in Florida with the family completely unexpectedly, because I got a call on Thursday that my dad was found on the floor of his house, where he'd been for two days. Rushed down here to see him in the hospital.

On the other hand, it seems like he's going to be fine. He was in rough shape because he's 91 and hasn't had food or water for a couple of days, but he's responding well, and they're treating his various minor ailments.

So... yay? It's obvious we have to take steps. If his friend hadn't come by, he wouldn't have made it. I think his stubborn resistance to change will finally need to bow before my stubbornness. He's getting a 911 button and a paid visitor.

I'm 40 and i have a paid person who comes over during the week to help me around the apartment, one of my previous health plans included a life alert button, my current plan doesn't have one that i'm aware of.

My Dad made 80 last Sunday; Mom will hit 80 in a couple weeks. They’re both pretty healthy overall, but Mom has injuries that have hampered her stamina, mobility and stability. I live with them- it cuts costs & concerns for all involved.

A few years ago, we started talking seriously about getting something like a LifeAlert for her. I was in the kitchen doing dishes when she went into the yard to look for our dog, and she fell off the porch. In physical distance, she was maybe 20’ from me. But she was on the other side of brick walls, and there was noise from the TV and the running water in the sink. I couldn’t hear her. Fortunately, the neighbor heard her from the other side of the fence and helped her get up and back in.

Complicating the issue: Mom never carries her iPhone at home. Complication #2: LifeAlerts are ugly and would clash with madame’s jewelry & clothing choices. Complication #3: our WiFi doesn’t project well throughout the house or yard (we’re upgrading it, but it will still be an issue outside).

So, for those (and more reasons), Apple Watches are our current front runners for my parents’ health & safety, at least at home. We’d get the ones that don’t need connectivity to WiFi. (Mom will insist on upgrading the band on hers, if/when we pull the trigger on purchasing them.)

If they've got a game that leans into traits that have run out of favor, they effectively have chosen an obscure game. After all, presumably they aren't the only GMs looking for remaining players who are interested in those traits.
