FWIW, the scientific industry has layoffs completely unrelated to AI. We have the simple problem that our funding has not only been gutted, it's been restructured so that even people who manage to get funding spend it slower, and there's often an extra layer of political oversight required for even basic purchases.

These companies would still be having mass layoffs anyway, even if AI wasn't a thing. These are the same layoffs they always have, year after year, long before AI became a corporate buzzword.

I laughed and or cried at an article discussing how Iranian companies are now finding 'redundancy' in their staffing...its like no, they are still needed, its just the country is falling apart. Lets not call it staffing redundancy when that clearly isnt the case here.

Musk also claimed there would be a Tesla autonomous vehicle taxi fleet by 2020. It's amazing how many people buy the Tony Stark hype.

That fully self driving Tesla has only been a year away since ~2014. The only thing he's got in common with Tony Stark is a substance abuse problem and familial wealth.

Also, Race as Class. I've been thinking about it in regards to my own system I'm tinkering with, and I've looked at the SD content someone created for it, but I guess I really dont get the motivation or appeal.

I think it's anchored in the idea that elves, dwarves and halflings are something "other" than human PCs, operating under their own rules and having access to techniques and skills humans don't. It's very much for a human-centric game.

Yeah, which has its own appeal I guess, but I was hashing this out with my son over a drive and didnt get to a solution.

Mostly it was about development of a species, culture, and if various sentient species would all develop on the same paths, but it seemed applicable to RPGs somehow at the time lol

I wish I had access to some serious poll/market research...
