I guess it really depends on your view of "HOW MAGIC WORKS" in your campaign setting. In mine, Arcane Power is everywhere, and easily accessible to those who know how to use it. So it makes sense that those who put forth the effort would be able to access it, at least in some rudimentary...

Also keep in mind that as long as a Wizard hasnt used their utility and daily spells yet, they can change what they have chosen by taking a simple 5 minute rest. So even with the worst case scenario, you dont have to wait 6 hours before you can move on.

That makes sense. Follow-up question, is there simply one "Passive Perception" skill, or is there a Passive Spot and Passive Listen? Additionally, does the DMG give any guidance as to around when these checks should take place?

Forgive me if this has already been asked (I've been through this thread and several others on the board and havent noticed it) but can anyone explain exactly how the passive perception skills work? For example say that I've got a group of PCs and a group of orcs blundering through the forest...

Perhaps my memory is failing me in my old age (almost 30! :P) but I dont seem to remember humans even having an entry in the Monster Manual of 3.5, or if they did it was fairly sparse. They could put literally hundreds of human archetypes in and still not cover the needs of every DM... so like...

This will, in fact, be a house-ruled addition to half-elves in my campaign. They will simply be required to pay the initial class training feat, and will from then on be able to trade an encounter, daily, and utility power at the appropriate levels without having to spend extra feats to do so...

Im honestly a bit surprised that that there is not a massive outcry that this is some kind of conspiracy by WOTC and Buy.com to finally kill off the FLGS. Pleasantly surprised, that is. Then again, maybe im just on the wrong forums for that. ;)
