My understanding is that a natural 20 doesn't do anything different from a 10 on a saving throw, but your way sounds like it's more fun. I'm pretty sure that you can't use temporary hit points to raise someone back to positive hit points, but I haven't seen an official ruling.

Why did you choose to go the Rogue route and splash Fighter? If you really want to be primarily fighting with your greatsword, I suggest being a Fighter and splashing Rogue. To get the extra skills you'd want, use some of those feats for Skill Training.

I don't think that WotC hates Macs, it's just that they recognize that most gamers have PCs. That's where the games are. Now, I am typing this on a Mac and I LOVE Macs, but I can understand why they've chosen to take this path. It makes sense, given their market.

My experience is actually 6 to 8. The last few encounters are really exciting as people run out of healing surges.
