Recharging Question

Does a creature roll once for all recharging abilities?

For example, if one ability needs a 5,6 and another needs a 6, does a roll of 6 recharge both or do you need to roll separately for each?

I'm really hoping it's the former.

Huh. That's interesting. It means on one good roll, it's "sucks to be the PCs" time. OTOH, rolling once for each increases the odds at least one will come up each turn.

In theory, the recharge rolls are balanced. If they want a monster to get back all-or-none of its abilities, they'll make them all based on the same results. If they want the monster to get its abilities back in a staggered fashion, they'll assign them to different results.

According to page 59 of this, you roll once for all abilities.
Well, there's not yet been consistent proof, but I'm pretty sure that's not correct.

IIRC, initially it was thought you'd roll only once for all abilities because of the shorthand notation on the stat cards. The assumption was that some monsters would have the numbers set in a way that they couldn't recharge all of them at once.

Since it seems that '5' on a stat card really means '5 6', that's no longer a possibility, so you should definitely make a separate roll for each ability - unless you like combat to be more swingy than it's supposed to be.

What might make sense is that you roll once for all abilities but you only get to recharge one of them.

Let us say you have three abilities
a) R5,6
b) R4,5,6
c) R6

if you roll a 5, you can then choose between a) and b)
if you roll a 6 you can then choose between a), b) and c)
etc.

We've heard that an ability with recharge :5: or :6: recharges on either result while a recharge of :5: only recharges on a :5:. Take that as you may. I'd assume one roll for all abilities. We'll know soon enough.

One roll to kill them all
or three rolls to try them?
One roll should win them all
and on the table bind them...

:p Okay, I'm done being goofy. Off to work.
