Dragon 301

Well, I wasn't interested in the feats either, but then, I'm pretty sick of new feats. I'd say that I find one or two articles in Dragon each month that interest me. But that's true for any magazine I've ever subscribed to.

Personally, I like the 'campaign components'.

I like Swashbuckling even better. ;) Can't wait for Dragon #301 to arrive in Europe.

But let's not forget, most of the articles we're seeing right now have been written by the same writers and reviewed by the same editors as before. Hell, they might even have been ready before the transfer to Paizo!

Swashbuckling was good, especially liked the combat styles.

Alchemy section was disappointing and bland.

Troll was good, some interesting stuff.

I liked the part about the Beggar's Union in Greyhawk too. But part of that is that some of the history was in an old Gord the Rogue book I have read.

Was an ok issue, not that great.

Once again, in the immortal words of the comic book guy, WORST ISSUE EVER!!!!

Seems that since the change in publisher for Dragon each issue is worse than the one before it.

I am so glad that I did not renew my subscription.

Well, since the initial post failed to point out any examples that could strengthen his claim, and Ghoti's second post provided a couple rather weak examples, I would have to say this:

Sign me up as a fan of the campaign components. I like stuff that helps me flesh out the cultures of my homebrew world.

I'm psyched about #301 because my wife is playing a Duelist and might actually read the article (she needs her gaming fix every week, but I don't think she's read more than a paragraph of gaming material in the last ten years).

Ghoti, are you daft man!?

I realise it is only opinions here but since the Drow issue things in my mind have been getting steadily better. In 301:

The swashbuckling article did not catch my eye, but I might refer to it if I run a pirate campaign.

Field to Cauldron and Meter and Measure have some great ideas. The ecology of the troll article is really good.

The place where this issue really shines is the Wizards workshop. Both DMs workshop and dungeoncraft are really good this issue.

Aaron.

It is in keeping with the general daftness and cluelessness that you display in this post and in the rest of the thread that you miss the fact that the Comic Book Guy is meant to be a vicious satire of everything you represent.

I subscribed to Dragon in September and this was the first issue I recieved. I haven't subscribed since High School. Man, it felt good to get the magazine in my mailbox. For $40/year I get a gaming "hit"? Awesome.

I liked the fireball map thing. I thought it was neato burrito.

Gosh!

And here I was thinking that 301 was one of the *best* issues I'd read in a while. Thanks for straightening me out!

The fencing feats alone were worth the cover price.

Over all, I have to say that I am not happy with this issue, but then it is only my opinion, it is nice to see how some people here can get very snotty over an opinion.

That being said, I will say that I must agree with jester47 when he says, "Field to Cauldron and Meter and Measure have some great ideas. The ecology of the troll article is really good."

It is nice to see a return of the ecology of ......

But I must question the class (cleric barbarian) for troll characters.
