When Erf first slips, Gildrim by chance is facing the right way to see. His sword clatters to the ground and he sticks out his arm quickly enough that the gnome tumbles around it.

"Easy thaur, ye wee birkie," he says, "thaur's other ways we can try." But he doesn't prevent the plucky green fellow from trying again, and he's able to clumsily break the second fall too.

[sblock=OOC] As Kryton would say "Engaging smug mode!" The -8 is -2 for strength and -6 for having a speed of 20, I thought it was -4 but checked the PHB and discovered that you get a +4 for every 10ft. over 30 you move but a -6 for every 10ft. under! In conclusion green gnomes can't jump. Oh and though I didn't say it Erf would have dropped his shield for this malarky, so I guess normally his jump is -10![/sblock]

"Cor thanks Gildrim, well we may as well get on and make some use of this little blighter! Any objection te me carryin' it fer the moment? So, er, lets go!"

Erf holds out the candle and Fenenn takes up his position next to Ter-raen again.

"Nae problem. Ah howp it'll pruive useful. But if we get intae a fecht wi' somethin' that cannae see in th' dark, an' it's givin' us a great deal ay trouble, ye micht want tae think of tuckin' it awa quick in yer pocket," Gildrim suggests. "This way noo?" He points to the northerly door.

"Well I reckon we go left unless ye have any objections? Systematic like, since its the first left we've seen thats not up."

Erf brandishes the continual flame, but keeps a fire lit - albeit barely just in case...

Gildrim picks up his sword and shrugs. "As guid as any ither direction. An' Ah micht as well dae th' honours." He opens the southern door.

Gildrim opens the door onto a small hallway with doors branching off in several directions. On the western wall is a large mirror of silvered glass, flanked by brass sconces. The mirror is covered in dust, but appears to be in good condition.

[sblock=Appraise DC 12]Similar antique mirrors go for around 100g in the Orussus marketplace. [/sblock]

ooc: I made a mistake earlier, and failed to un-hide one of the doors leading out of the first room. So this isn't the first left-hand door you've seen. Sorry!

"Tay many doors," Gildrim growls, halfway along the passage. "Whit sae we stop wastin' time tryin' tae pick th' richt ane, an' jes' keep pickin' the leftmost we've yit tae open?"

"Bonnie auld seein'-glass, tho'... fur those that can staund tae see thair gizzes lookin' back at them. Wirth a bit."

Ter-raen nods his head in agreement at the dwarf's words, or at least how he thinks he heard them. "Left always... simple way. Ter-raen agree. Best to walk simple, in house of bad omen."

[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the slow posting, been rather busy the past few days.[/sblock]
