Round 3 and 4

[sblock=Reklaw]Goiters. Gross, huh?[/sblock]
[sblock=fireinthedust]
fireinthedust;4820352Isn't Emral dazed? I thought the save last round was for the ongoing damage said:
The save was for ongoing damage. The dazed condition lasted until the end of your turn.[/sblock]

Round 3 continued...
A large anvil falls from the sky, narrowly missing Vaunea. :eek:

Drivan's encouragement hits the mark, but his magic missile does not.

As Emral casts his spell, the origami rat abandons its life in a final attack.

[sblock=Action]Opportunity Attack - Bite [/sblock]
The little rat thrashes as the bolt strikes it. It collapses.

Round 4
From its hole, Vocabulary Rat says, "Alphabetize!" Vaunea and Hadarai suddenly switch places.

Then, the paper rat utters, "Edifice!" A solid wall of words raises up between the pair of rats and the wizards, blocking line of sight and effect.

[sblock=Action]Standard: Alphabetize

[sblock=DM Question]Do we need to do anything to tie up the Impulse Control Rat next to me? Or is it incapacitated until the encounter is over? Basically, I'm asking if I need to take action now to avoid this thing coming back and attacking us later.

Thinking about it some more, I don't think Emral or Drivan can get to line of sight this round anyways, so I'm going to let them deal with it. ;)[/sblock]
Finnian pulls out his length of rope and drops it next to the Impulse Control Rat.

This one is still alive. Better tie it up before it can recover.

Finnian then whistles to Erlai and motions to the other side of the chasm. Constrained in their movement, they both make a bee-line for the other side. Erlai flies over the gap with ease, but Finnian attempts to leap over.

Athletics Check (1d20+3=11)

[sblock=Combat Actions]Minor: remove rope from pack (still have silk rope in pack)
Move: to J11 (If the terrain at K6 takes an extra move, then I am at K10)
Standard: Second Wind
Erlai Move: to H11[/sblock]

[sblock=Rules Question]Do I have to use my standard action for Erlai to use a healing surge? I'm going to use it for myself this turn, but just thinking ahead to the future.[/sblock]

Vaunea summons her rage and blinks out of existance at I11, only to reappear at E13. Taking a split second to regain herself, she lashes out at the Memory Rat, in the hopes of incapacitating it.

I am going to make 1 roll with a +7. Here's what I want to do. If I cleave and hit the memory rat, therefore doing damage to the Vocab rat, can I mark the Vocab rat? If so, then keep the roll as rolled. Otherwise, I would use a brash strike, getting a +2 to the hit roll and a +4 to damage to the memory rat, but not damage the Vocab rat at all.
[/sblock]

[sblock=Actions]
Move Action = Blink to E13
Standard Action = Cleave 1d20+7->17;1d12+4->9 and 4 damage to Vocab Rat; otherwise, Brash Strike for a 19 with 13 damage.
Mark Memory Rat (and Vocab rat if applicable)
[/sblock]

Hadarai blinks too and appears on the other side of the rat from Vaunea, once again directing her attack in the most lethal way possible from the position.

[sblock=actions]If memory rat is still standing, teleport to G13 and Commander's strike for Vaunea: 19 vs AC, 17 dmg, non-lethal dmg; if memory rat is already knocked out, Hadarai will stay where he is and use commander's strike on vocabulary rat, in this case the attack roll is 17 vs AC(no flanking)[/sblock]

Assuming I get an attack of opportunity since he cast a spell in melee (Alphabetize)...
It's a close attack, not a ranged attack, so you don't get the opportunity attack.

I am going to make 1 roll with a +7. Here's what I want to do. If I cleave and hit the memory rat, therefore doing damage to the Vocab rat, can I mark the Vocab rat?
My understanding of the rules may be flawed, but I don't think that you would be able to mark the second rat on a cleave. If the power description had said 'secondary attack' for the 4 points of cleave damage, then I think it would have counted as an 'attack' for marking purposes, but since you're not making a roll at the Vocab rat, probably not a technical attack.[/sblock]

Do we need to do anything to tie up the Impulse Control Rat next to me? Or is it incapacitated until the encounter is over?
It would take a few standard actions to tie up the rat--around three of them.

The rat is incapacitated for a long time. In about an hour or two, it will start stirring about, but it will be weak. If you take an extended rest, it will return to full strength.[/sblock]

Round 4
Finnian drops his rope, gives directions to his comrades, and jumps the chasm. Emral follows. (Finnian can get all the way to I12, so I'm putting him there.)

Vaunea teleports and takes down the Memory Rat. (Which is REALLY annoying, because the DM was about to use a cool close-attack power on the party. Jerks.)

With aplomb, Hadarai directs Vaunea's attack at the Vocabulary Rat, but the little beast manages to duck into its hole, avoiding the axe.

Round 4
Finnian drops his rope, gives directions to his comrades, and jumps the chasm. Emral follows.

[sblock=Heeeeeeeeeeey!] Emral stops, looks around... waits... takes his time... Hey Emral, wanna get across that Chasm? Huh? wuh? Oh, okay, sure! mumble mutter mumble, expecting the Wild Mage to take the most probable action choice...:hmm:[/sblock]

Emral snaps his hand down to grab the note out of the boot's toe, then takes a running start and leaps across the chasm, (EDIT) using the inherent creativity of the Right side of the brain to teleport the rest of the way mid-air, moving to Vaunea's side. Once there he summons another ball of geometric insanity (or something) and hurls it at the remaining rat... to stun it into submission.

...but before he can hurl the spell, he double checks to see if it's defeated.

[sblock=Chaos Burst]1d20+4=17, 1d10+7=17 nonlethal. I believe I did the math right: +4 cha, +3 Dex. Not even roll, so no worries. let me know? :)

Erm, so is the rat down? Or is it still fighting? If so, I use the burst. erm, yes. [/sblock]
