TURTLEDOME!: Battle Bone (DM: KenHood, Judge: Lord S.)

"Ow! Get off me, you stupid bird!" shouts the halfling as Erlai tears his flesh.

Roger the Mage fumbles the red and white striped jar out of his robes with his right hand. In his left he brandishes The Wand of Supercharged Mass Destruction. He sways on his feet. The wand glows.

"Don't do it, Roger!" shouts Olivia.

"Get away!" shrieks the mage.

With a blast of thunder, a wave of force blasts from the mage, rattling the building down to its foundations. The remaining glass in the windows shatters outwards. Furniture flips over. The walls crack.

Outside, the mob screams in pain and terror, reeling away from the shop. A stampede begins as many scream and flee.

Vaunea staggers backwards from the mage. (8 damage, dazed EONT.)

The wave of force shoves Drivan back through the open door into the storage room. (8 damage, dazed EONT.)

Olivia grunts as she slams against the wall. "Gods ***** you, Roger! What the ***** are you thinking?!" (8 damage, dazed EONT.) All the blood vessels in one eye have ruptured. Blood trickles from her nose.

Finnian's body flops through the air, thumping against the threshold of the door, then rolling down the stairs out the front door. (8 damage, now at -8 HP.)

The wave of force smashes Erlai against the ceiling. (8 damage, dazed EONT.)

The blast consumes each of the leperchauns. The fairies explode into new piles of gold.

The halfling uses the bench for cover.

Then there's Uncle Mikey and Emral.

---
Emral, since you are adjacent to Uncle Mikey, you can choose to dive over Uncle Mikey and take his damage. If you do not, he dies. If you do, he slides, but still lives, and you are prone, dazed until the EONT, and suffer a total of 21 points of damage (putting you at -9).

If Emral chooses to let Uncle Mikey die...
Uncle Mikey flips head over heels, smashing against the floor. His neck snaps. His body twitches. He gurgles his last breath and dies.

Emral flies backwards towards the door. (8 damage, dazed EONT.)

If Emral chooses to cover Uncle Mikey...
Emral leaps on top of Uncle Mikey, protecting the metal-nosed halfling from the blast, but sacrificing himself. The sorcerer suffers terrible injury (21 points of damage; DYING).

"Whoooooa, duuuuuude! You saved me! Don't worry, man, I'll take care of you."

"Look!" shouts a member of the mob, "Look at what Emral did!"

A lady in the mob shrieks, "Throw me a potion, Uncle Mikey! I'll use it on Finnian!"

---

The mage withdraws towards the door. "Come on, Olivia! While they're getting back their senses, we can barricade ourselves in the back room, and let Earl cut loose on their sorry hides!"

"Okay! Okay!" she replies, wobbling over to the mage on unsteady feet.

"You *****holes!" cries the halfling, "You're not going to just leave me out here with these murderers?!"

"Deal with it, Bill," hisses Olivia.

[sblock=Lots of rolls that interrupt narrative]The mage's attack is a blast, so it does not draw an attack of opportunity from Vaunea. (Standard Action: Supercharged Mega-Shockwave - v. [sblock=Kenhood]I can move but not move and attack, right? So if there are no doors into the room across from me I think I'll move to E7, does that work? If I can get into that room another way I'll go that direction...

--edit--
Actually how sturdy does that wall in front of me look? Could a spell take that down?[/sblock]

Correct. When you are dazed, you can perform only one action: standard, move, or minor.

So if there are no doors into the room across from me I think I'll move to E7, does that work?
There are no doors. You can move to E7 if you wish.

Actually how sturdy does that wall in front of me look?
Very.

Could a spell take that down?
Maybe Force Orb. You've have to try it to see.

fireinthedust...
Waiting on you to confirm your action with regards to Uncle Mikey.

The sorcerer is rocked along with everyone else as the jar is opened, putting up an arm as debris falls from above, sparing a glance behind him for the mob's safety. Then, turning back to the fight, he notes the wizard's spell hurtling towards Uncle Mikey.

Noooooo! Emral's voice deepens as time seems to slow down. He leaps forward, ignoring the temptation for his own safety, and shoves the halfling out of the way. The spell slams into his chest, knocking him off his trajectory like a rag doll to the floor. He attempts to push himself up, wavers, and drops to the floor. His Sulci dim to be like mere embers...

[sblock] cough, hack, wheeze... ok, that's my move.

But wait: what about second wind? Can't I use my second wind for this fight?

admittedly, a 2nd wind isn't as big a deal when you don't have Barbarian/Defender hit points, now that I think about it. 5hp isn't enough to get me back up! Still, might be worth a try. If not, I'll use it when mikey gets me back up.[/sblock]

Note: The jar has yet to be opened. The spell was from the Wand of Supercharged Mass Destruction.

Roger, the Mage, cackles like his mind has snapped as Emral collapses like a rag doll.

"Suck on that, matchstick!" Bill, the Halfling, shouts, laughing.

"It's okay, bro! I got you!" says Uncle Mikey, cradling Emral's head and pouring a potion down the sorcerer's throat.

Emral awakens.

"Give this to Finnian," yells Uncle Mikey to the lady in the mob. He throws a potion to her.

"We've got him!" she replies, as two men raise the ranger into a sitting posture.

After recieving the potion, Finnian coughs and comes to consciousness. The woman grabs his by the lapels and shakes. "Listen, farmboy! I don't know what fight you THINK you're in, but these guys are kicking the ***** out of you and your buddies. Stop ***** around and use your best powers, or these ***** will knock you down again! Now get back in there, and FIGHT!"

"No fair!" shouts Bill, the Halfling, "No fair! They were down, you metal-nosed hippie freak!"

[sblock=my turn]ooc: now that I'm alive again, does that mean I'm out of Olivia's control? Like, I can attack her? I think i'll be going after the halfling regardless, tho: take care of that loose end and trust the rest of the team to it!

(if Vaunea doesn't charge Bill): move to get up, standard to fire a Chaos Bolt at Bill.1d20+4=11 ummm... hit? Can I use an action point and add another attack? If so: a second Chaos Bolt!1d20+4=12 ...buh. I mean, er "ding!"
Note: they're vs Will, not Reflex or AC. Psychic damage. The second one is even, but I don't believe the other two are close enough to hit in 5 squares.

ic:
Emral glares at the halfling, gets up and ignites the fire inside him. I know you like swimming, "Bill"; let's see if this'll send you UP THE RIVER!Emral points his dagger at the halfling and fires a Chaos Bolt at him. When that one goes off, he summons up some courage and throws a second bolt.

I haven't spent it this encounter. The question I have is whether we took a short rest or an extended rest. Technically Emral hasn't fought anyone the whole day. The intimidate vs. the one-handed guy at the bar, sure. The skill challenge, yeah. The stopover to pick up the bush, involing a perception check... yeah. No actual combat. I *hope* I have one. ...wait... nope, not at the docks, either. I think I have one.

did I hit with either one?
