[OT] New Year's Resolutions, or "I am Muumuu Homer"

CrazyMage

4th Level Lawful Good Cleric
Remember the Simpson's episode where Homer gains weight until he can go on disability because he weighs 300 pounds?

Went to the doctor last week for the first time in years. Hop on the scale.

303 pounds. (Insert mild bad word here).

Time for some new health habits. From now on, I'm eating better and exercising more. Fortunately I've got a couple of friends who've lost some major weight, so I've got their good example and encouragement. Here's to feeling better in the New Year.

Now if I can only get some PowerSauce bars (I hear they're made from apple cores and Chinese newspapers)

Funny, but that same Simpsons episode was one of many things that inspired me to shed 60+ pounds four years ago. Good luck! It's a tough road to walk.

My own resolutions:

1. Lose 30 more pounds.
2. Read at least 4 novels a month.
3. Complete my first novel.

i love to paint, but i am not good at it. this year i will paint as often as possible, hopefully increasing my skills :)

see attached, after 9-10 hours....*sigh*

1. Lose 10 more pounds (lost 8 since October)

2. Get my Star Wars group past level 10.

3. Conquer Earth (time permitting)

4. Pass my first two CCNP certification exams.

I have to lose the weight for health reasons, but the doctor let me plan my diet.

Here's what I'm doing:

I've completely cut out caffeine since it dries you out (which in my case is very bad, kidneys, diabetes, etc.). I drink mostly water, and plenty of it.

I eat much less food and what food I do eat I am mindful of the fat content. I'm trying to keep the fat total under 30 grams a day and when I can I keep it at 15 to 20 grams a day to speed the weight loss, but not get dangerous with it.

I'm walking more, but still not enough.

So far, since Thanksgiving, I have dropped 25lbs. and I'm feeling much better. I plan to have my weight down around 200lbs. by the end of January.

Now on to the New Years resolutions:

Write more for possible publication (already got a small contribution published in the upcoming Pale Designs by Bastion press) in the hopes of gettnig a few things a year out there and to encourage me to write more.

Once the doctor approves me for heavier excersize routines I'm going to look into a membership at the gym providing I can raise the cash to pay for it.

Improve my Game Mastering techniques.

I have a few more, but this gives you a general idea what I'm focused on for now.

Good luck with your own resolutions and Happy New Year!

Jim

I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions, but there are a number of things I'd like to get done this year:

Get financially comfortable
Buy a new computer
Start running a new game (it's been awhile)
Become a better GM
Get my website up and running

That should keep me pretty busy. :D

Umm.. i never end up keeping these, but maybe this year is a time to start!

1. Lose 30 lbs. or more, and keep it off
2. Play more Water Polo
3. Not slack of in school (which probably means less ENWorld)
4. Visit my girlfriend on the other side of the country (this i WILL keep)
