D&D 5E New DM - LF guidance on online tt apps

Hi all, I've decided I am going to work on DMing for the very first time. It's a simple pre-written one shot designed to basically help me get my feet wet, and I would be doing this online via Discord and... ?

One thing that has kept me from taking this on is the scope of online tools. Roll20, VTT and others seem to have a pretty steep and long learning curve, and TBH I am not interested in learning any of them because the time spent learning the tools means less time for me learning the nuances of the basic rules and DMing responsibilities. And I don't want my players waiting on me to figure out stuff (and vice versa) if all are experienced on the platform.

I would prefer instead to use dry erase, minis, and other visual aids, transmitted via camera, but I don't know what the viability of this as an approach is.

Experienced online DMs - how have you handled this situation?
