Player who cancels at the last minute frequently also cancelled on the group's Friendsgiving plan at the last minute. It's getting to the point that when we do things we're just going assume he isn't showing up and then being surprised when he does.

For me it was when I paid about C$120 to see The Who at Rich Stadium, in Buffalo. That included the bus to and from Toronto. The Clash opened for The Who. David Johansen (New York Dolls) opened for The Clash. Same thing; drugs and alcohol everywhere. I drank (not in years now), but didn't and don't use drugs. 1982.

We had one who would do that. Problem was he was the GM. That's how my "backup campaign" became the main.

Oh, he did this a lot during his one turn at bat as DM too. We started having to reschedule pretty frequently and then at one point he just...stopped responding for about 4 months. He would respond if we didn't talk about dnd, and went to a few outings, but would just clam up and not respond if anyone brought the game up. It was a big contribution to why I stopped playing ttrpgs all together for a few years.

Fun Fact: I had no idea who Prong, Clutch and Drowned were, lol - I'd been driving past (the place was sort of on a side street, but one you had to drive down to get anywhere in that area) and saw there was a show that night, so I just spur-of-the-moment decided to pull into the near-by public parking lot and head inside...
It's like that time in 1985 when I was a junior high kid at an amusement park in RI, and a loud band was playing on the large outdoor concrete block they called the Midway Stage so I stopped to listen and convinced my mother to buy me a shirt.
It wasn't until decades later that I googled the band's name and found out that my first ever live concert had been accidentally seeing a world-famous metal band - it was Accept's Metal Heart tour...
