Incredibly, this is worse than the last set. I do like the bugbear lancebreaker, though. And the fire effect looks good.

Having lived in Brissie all my life I still consider it something of a country town, at least when compared to Sydney (or "Australia's Answer to New York" as we like to call it). Much more laid back and, well, country-ish, is Brizvegas. Oh, sure ... it tries hard to be all hip and trendy but...

Shemeska is right on the money here. I've played and occasionally even DMed games where the players were so engrossed that no-one remembered (or bothered) to ask for XP. Not one of those systems was 4e. In fact, prepare yourself for a shock here, but most of those games were 3.5e! Insanity...

I'll be there (living in Brissie I have no excuse!). I'm running an OD&D game Saturday arvo. I agree that I've been a bit ... concerned about the organisation of GenCon Oz but it is the very first one so they need to be cut a fair bit of slack. Really looking forward to it. :D

While I am investing in Paizo's Golarian setting my players won't be journeying in it any time soon. That makes not one iota's difference to how very useful the Classic Monsters Revisited book is to me in the current setting I'm running (Greyhawk).

Ah, a man after my own heart! And, coincidentally, I just ordered Denizens of Avadnu from Paizo only a few days ago. Very much look forward to reading it.

There are some rules sidebars here and there (and monster stats using the excellent Paizo stat block format with tactics and the like). The vast majority of the book is taken up with some of the most interesting and provocative monster ecology write-ups I've ever read. If you're only...

For the last 12 months or so we've been mad-keen on OD&D(1974) and bD&D. We still have our regular 3.5 game running as well. The OD&D and bD&D games have been pure, unadulterated fun. Quick and deadly, just the way we like it. And they're both bliss to DM.

OD&D meets all of your requirements except for the Action Points (though you could argue that it negates the need for Action Points by its very nature). I love 3.5 but find OD&D revitalising.
