So I think I might understand now, so if I get it right, when you're saying 'it doesn't make sense to me' you are meaning along the lines of, 'I don't like this picture because she is wearing glasses, and if I was in a similar position I wouldn't wear glasses, I would use magic for a longe term...

I somewhat agree, it is a big risk in a risky environment as such. But if grew a bit like mine, with deteriorating over time, can see potential where to begin with glasses helped but weren't required, so didn't carry spare, main glasses didn't get broken at all through a period of adventuring...

In Chaosmancers defense, after reading a lot of both of your posts, your messages very much come across as anyone wealthy enough /powerful enough such as the wizard in the OP wouldn't have glasses, as otherwise doesn't make sense to you, which does leave only those not wealthy enough or powerful...

I reread those semi-recently! Great series, Goblin and One-Eye were very good in it, not your typical wizards :) Held up better than Chronicles of the Raven did when I tried to reread that at a similar time.

Stardust book and movie loosely based on book (both great though), Doctor Who episode, Good Omens with Terry Pratchett, both book and now new series based off book. Maybe I'm biased towards English authors, but Gaiman seems up there with Pratchett for renown as such.

To me that only works if the consumers are a monolith as such - otherwise what one consumer wants to hear may be what another consumer doesn't want to hear - hence the divisive opinions people have around various things, such as 4E, 5E2024 etc - while consumers have mixed opinions, I don't think...
