    Thinking about publishing

Hello, I have a long 4e campaign written down in pretty great detail, starting at level 1 and so far we have played it to level 16. I have further material up until level 20 and beyond. My idea was to try to publish parts of this campaign as stand-alones or an adventure path, or something. I...

    Obsolete Feats

It would be nice if obsolete feats were listed as such in the compendium at least, with a link to the feat or feats that makes them obsolete.

    Taming Beasts

I don't know if I would allow them to tame it during a combat encounter. I would probably allow them to trick it in various ways and perhaps learn how to guide it along with them to use it in other encounters, but it would still not be an ally. A gelatinous cube is probably entirely driven by...

Slicing Wraiths and Ghosts w/ blades?

It can work for ghosts since they are typically stationary, trapped in the location they are haunting. If the players are too stupid to realize that they can't win (right now), or too stubborn or proud to escape, then their characters deserve to die...

2 powers everyone gets in Eberron. Please critique.

Very well, I will provide helpful commentary instead of joke commentary. Perform A Stunt seems quite weak for a daily. "Taking 10" is something I would do on pedestrian activities, not awesome stunts. If it can only be used once a day, make it count.

2 powers everyone gets in Eberron. Please critique.

That's strange. My characters in our home-made setting are already way cooler than everything else without having these powers. What am I doing wrong?

    Experiment with Treasure

Maybe they were thinking that the guy who didn't get an item would get a bunch of gold instead. Perhaps the wizard. Perhaps he needs it to buy rituals. Perhaps he can make his own items.

Martial Exploits - Trip, Disarm, and Sunder

I see nothing here that a stunt couldn't handle. Not that your rules are bad or anything but it seems to be unnecessarily complicated. "I want to disarm my opponent." "Fine, make a Bluff stunt." "24 against Insight." "Good job. He drops his weapon. While he scrambles to pick it up you smack...

    Ritual Revamp... thoughts?

I don't know many rituals that would be useful in combat (magic circle is the obvious exception), but I'm sure they are out there. How about making ritual casting in combat into a skill challenge? If you absolutely positively have to capture that demon in a magical circle instead of simply...

D&D 4E My Special Rules for Nine Alignments in 4E

Since they changed the name from Neutral to Unaligned, the game has just one alignment that I care about now. Neutral was for some reason presented as a difficult path to follow. It's not. Calling it Unaligned makes it clearer that it's not a matter of balancing good deeds against evil ones, or...

    Game Economy

This is what makes most sense to me to explain "D&D Economy" - it's a magic-standard economy instead of a gold or silver standard. Except it's possible to convert magic into precious metal or gems, and vice versa. That's what alchemy is for: to take magical energy and turn it into something...

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

The crusaders slowly walk through the village, looking out for more undead. They don't see anyone, living or dead, until they find the small town square nestled between the church and the inn. A creature that once was the village priest - Arvid - standing next to a slime-filled old well. He...

How do you handle being blinded?

Invisible creatures get taken off the map, if no PC can see them. The DM will have to keep track of where they move. A blind character gets helpful advice from the rest of the party to help him find the enemies. I base these rulings on the fact that a stealthy PC must have total concealment...

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

Finally - Gröten! Once a logging site that has grown into a permanent dwelling for about three dozen families, the village sits in a large clearing next to the river. Simple sharpened poles and a low ditch is all that protects about 30 small houses and a church on a hill near the center. The...

A new dungeon map every day (throughout May)

These maps will work great for an abandoned dwarven outpost I've been trying to build. Thanks for making them!

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

The mysterious mage Elight disappears mysteriously on a mysterious errand. Instead, we follow our friends - Kurilie and Ingrid - on the way to Gröten. As they reach the edge of the forest they find a fortified inn called Skogstorp. They decide to spend the night at the inn instead of daring to...

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

Before they leave for Gröten the next day, Markus asks them to check in on the old saw-mill on the way. People have told him that they have seen goblins around there, and he doesn't like that they are coming this close to town. Now that the baron and his soldiers are away on the crusade the...

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

Nothingness gives way to light. The heroes feel warm life flowing through their bodies once again and as their eyes adjust to the brightness they find themselves inside the town church. Three men stand nearby: Markus the sheriff, Ingvar the town priest and behind them, Efraim From, the fat...

The Shadowfell Crusade: 4E heroic game

The crusaders leave through a window to avoid the zombie outside. Kurelie acrobatically flies out and rolls into a crouching position, swords at the ready. Elight gets a stool to climb on, struggling with his cloak getting caught on the window sill, but finally emerges unscathed. Ingrid simply...

Making effective use of the Bard's Multiclass Mastery

It is actually the Jack of All Trades feat that is the sucker's bet, in my opinion.
