E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

Would it hurt to give the Ranger both Woodland Stride and Swift Tracker at level 6? Personally, I've always felt that the Ranger was lacking something next to the Fighter. So, adding these two in at Level 6 for Ranger might help.

E6: The Game Inside D&D (with PDFs!)

I'd considered that, OldLurker. What I'd do is allow them to gestalt. In other words, a fighter5/wizard1 could become a fighter5/wizard2, but he would only improve in those abilities for which a wizard2 was better than what he already had. fighter5/wizard1 HD (5d10, 1d4) BAB+5 FORT +4 REF +1...

I think it stands for "Epic."

Spell Point Systems - What Do You Use?

I'm working on a new spellpoint system for my campaign. It's similar to the one in UA, but I'm recalculating the spellpoints at each level based on the spell slots each class would have at a given level. It results in more powerful casters than the UA model. But, it works the same.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

I looked it over and I think I see your point. Looks like single attack loses versus iterative more often than it wins as far as damage is concerned. Did I understand that correctly? I agree completely. It is a strange choice, but having already started down the road... Well... ??? The...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Does using two hands improve precision/control? Good point! I agree. Thanks! I think I've made my decision. No 1.5 multiplier since it's precision damage.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

I'd be interested in seeing that, too. Considering my variants necessitate more damage than standard, this might help me decide whether to apply it to all the iterative attacks. Thanks!

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Interesting. I hadn't considered that. Some thought required, here, on my part. I'll have to take a look at that. True... But Weapon Specialization isn't really that special by itself. +2 to damage is good, but when you factor in the idea that some creatures could have good damage reduction...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

It might be a good idea to have this option at the expense of making a full attack. Either make the full attack or get the bonus precision damage. I'll have to think about this.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Thanks, Mosaic. I think the basic +1 damage per point of BAB is good. I'm just leaning more heavily toward the slightly more complicated version that relies on the three-tiered model, above.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

I like the simplicity, but I also like the idea that their can be a difference in how well certain classes translate their BAB into bonus damage. Fighters should be better at it than clerics or wizards.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Well... Power attack is nice and all, but it doesn't fit the bill. It's not quite the same as the characters sacrifice some of their chance to hit for potential extra damage. So, that doesn't achieve my goal of having everything (charcaters, NPC's, and monsters) do more damage when using...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Thanks, Blue. I've actually been thinking about treating it like critical, sneak attack, or precision damage. Creatures that are immune to criticals, etc... wouldn't be affected by the extra damage.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Re: Multi-Classed Characters He would use the fighter 6 value plus the rogue 4 value. Fighter 6 would be +5 and rogue 4 would be +2 for a total of +7 damage.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

What I'm Trying to Accomplish We're using a variant of the Unearthed Arcana variant of using Armor as Damage Reduction. The problem is that this variant is making combat a lot longer. But, my players and I really like the idea of Armor as Damage Reduction. So, it's here to stay. But, there...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Thanks, Kaomera. I had considered this and I do think it's a good option, were it not for adding more math to combat. Good idea! I hadn't considered that. Thank you for mentioning this. I see the merit in this, but it's not what I'm looking for. I'll definitely remember to treat the bonus...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

I'm pretty much thinking as the bonus to damage as being a skill bonus. Better accuracy is a good way to put it. If my character really has a +10 to hit, he should be more skilled at dealing damage than a character with a +1 to hit.

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

A Second Option If a damage bonus equal to BAB is too good... What about having a three tiered system of damage bonuses based on whether the BAB of the attacker was in the good, fair, or poor category? The damage bonuses could be tabulated in the same manner as good, fair, or poor saving...

    Damage Bonus Based on BAB?

Are there any good systems for increasing damage bonuses based on character level, BAB, or hit dice that would be easy to implement across the entire system without over-complicating the game? What I'm thinking is that melee characters should get better at dealing damage as their skill...
