Human Warmage 5 Human Warlock 5 Gnome Artificer 5 Shifter Ranger 2/Barbarian 2/Warshaper 1 Works pretty well. They occasionally get a tag-along underlevel Archivist for story and survival reasons.

I wouldn't say that nostalgia and a revival are mutually exclusive terms. My personal criteria for reviving a game system (economically, at least) would be enough people buying the new stuff to keep the authors making new stuff. If nostalgia accomplishes this, then so be it.

I run a roughly episodic Eberron game, but continuity-wise, it's far more in the serial drama (ala new Battlestar Galactica) style than the episodic-but-not-necessarily-temporally-contiguous style of your standard sitcom or what have you.

You clearly didn't spend enough time playing EVE. The heart of that game is in the player politics, backstabbing, dirty tricks and double dealing.
