D&D 5E Doctors & Daleks Previews Include Official 5E DALEK Stats!

Daleks have frequently shown themselves to be adept at deceiving and manipulating mere humans. See, for example, Power of the Daleks or Evil of the Daleks.

Free League Announces Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

I'm very interested in this. I used to play the hell out of Twilight 2000 back in the nineties. Having looked at the old rulebooks recently, to be honest the system was a bit clunky, and I wouldn't want to run it now. I've thought about converting it to the Mongoose Traveller system, but that...

D&D 5E the dex warrior - why make a strength based one?

I have to agree with this. I once rolled up a dex-based crossbow expert / sharpshooter fighter who used a hand crossbow to lay down rapid fire damage. Very effective in combat, great DPR. Boring as hell to play. He ended up heroically sacrificing himself.

    D&D 5E Must-have bard spells?

I've played a few bards, and it's such a diverse class that I'm loath to generalise, but I wouldn't leave the house without Enhance Ability. It works very well with the skill monkey aspect of the bard.

    Champion advice

I can't answer your question directly, but I have played a Bladelock with Polearm Master and Sentinel, and that is a very fun combination with lots of possibilities. If you have those two, I don't think you need to worry about the Champion being dull in combat.

D&D 5E Where does optimizing end and min-maxing begin? And is min-maxing a bad thing?

The philosophical debate over mathematical realism has been contended by the finest minds since the time of Plato. I never imagined that I would see it solved in my lifetime, let alone on an elf game message board. I am truly awestruck.

D&D 5E Where does optimizing end and min-maxing begin? And is min-maxing a bad thing?

Absolutely. I play in a large, very mixed group, in which some players are skilled optimisers, some enjoy taking outlandish sub-optimal options for roleplaying purposes, and some just want to stick to a character class, roll dice and have fun. Everyone gets their turn in the spotlight, no one...

D&D 5E Where does optimizing end and min-maxing begin? And is min-maxing a bad thing?

It's another of those irregular verbs: I create effective character concepts You powergame He/she is a total munchkin

    D&D 5E 5E classes that discourage "dipping"

I don't know, a two level dip into Divination Wizard to get portent can be awfully tempting, and three levels in Lore Bard can do a lot for a Charisma based caster.

    D&D 5E 5th Level Teifling Sorcerer

Cantrips: Mage hand is immensely useful. It was largely responsible for getting our party through the Tomb of Horrors. Prestidigitation has loads of roleplaying applications. True Strike is a bollocks, avoid it. Level 1: Definitely take Shield. Shield never gets old. Level 2: Enhanced Ability...

    D&D 5E Character Death

In our game, the DM encourages us to develop back-up/alternate characters, and when a PC dies (or permanently retires from the story) the player can transfer half the PC's XP to an alternate character. This has turned out to work very well. Not only is the pain of an unlooked-for death...

    D&D 5E Multiclassing

Many players find multiclassing fun and interesting. Twenty pages in, and I have yet to see anybody explain why denying them that option makes the game more fun and interesting. Of course, DMs can do what they like, make all weapons do 1D6 damage, ban clerics, make all cantrips into first level...

D&D 5E Roleplaying the opposite gender

You're right that trying to do a falsetto is going to sound rubbish. Just not worrying about changing your voice at all is a perfectly valid and workable option. However, if you do want to try to differentiate, you could try this trick. Do all the male NPCs in a lower register, and the female...

    D&D 5E I am looking to build a Fighter/Sorcerer

Action Surge, uniquely, gives you the ability to cast two non-cantrip spells in a single round. So I'd say two fighter levels to get action surge, then 3-5 levels in sorcerer before progressing further in fighter, and take it from there.
