Could be good for an evoker as well.

Heck even a Paladin who takes Archery Mastery first can benifit from it. I wonder with the two attack feature combos well with the possible extra attack from taking a -5 from the feat. It does work with divine strike.

I also think a Rogue Assissin with the Divine Iniate series of feats could be really cool, a holy slayer type of character.

The Arcane Archer feat isn't really clear about what a hit means. If you hit a guy with an arrow with a Melf's acid arrow spell on it, does the target automatically take the acid damage, or do you then have to roll a magic attack? If you hit a guy with an arrow with a disintegrate spell on it, does the target automatically take the damage, or do they still get a saving throw? etc.

The way I'm reading it they still get a saving throw. It's as if you instantly cast the spell on them the moment the arrow strikes except you actually cast it earlier. This got me thinking about the silence spell and so I looked it up... there doesn't seem to be any restriction against casting while silenced now. There is nothing in the rules for casting spells or in the descriptions of the various casting classes that implies they make noise when casting.

Not that I mind. Just pointing it out. Silencing casters was always a maximum no-fun-allowed thing to do.

I bet it's something that they'll be able to switch out, in the end.

This is true. I really liked the Disciple of the Sun feature in the last playtest pack, allowing Sacred Flame to be used as a reaction or opportunity attack. Not sure that balances with armor, but it sure is something I wanted to play.

the Greataxe Crit of 1d12+2d8

The crit of JUST 2d8. If not, would be 2d12 (doubling the normal damage die). They found a big crit for a weapon (compare greatsword, that goes from normal 2d6 to 3d6 on crit). So, the greataxe does JUST 2d8 on crit (and not 2d12 or 1d12+2d8).

I don't think so: (Equipment p. 4) "the damage value in parentheses after the critical property is added to the damage".

so: 1d12+2d8. The critical property improves a weapon's functionality; it doesn't make it worse.

It seems you are correct. In this case, I must add I second the issue this critical seems a bit overpowered ;)

It's worse than a Great Sword that does 2d6+2d6 on a crit but 2d6 vs 1d12 all the rest of the time. That is unless you crit more than 1 hit in 4 & the extra damage matters.

Really, how about all the 4e players, all the people who enjoy organized play from 3.x/pathfinder/ect, all the groups I have seen at game stores and conventions over the last few decades that use something like fixed hit points or roll twice take the higher, roll and if less than half take half, ect....

Almost no one I have played with or seen play in a long time rolls HP straight, because we all realize that a fighter rolling a 1 and a wizard rolling a 6 is silly.

I hate rolling for hit points too. I think you mistook the word "loathes" in my post for "loves." Loathe is the exact opposite of love.
