"1st Edition Rules, 4th Edition Feel"?

Let's say that a DM wanted to make a D&D adventure using either the 1st edition AD&D rules, or the rules in the 1981 D&D Basic book (edited by Moldvay) and in the 1981 D&D Expert book (edited by Cook). Further, let's say that the players all had experience only with 4th edition D&D.
Playing 4e isn't something that should alter a player's needs for enjoying a game or finding an adventure fun. If your adventure would appeal to a brand new player or someone who has the same amount of RPG experience with your system of choice, then I see no reason it wouldn't also appeal to the vast majority of 4e players without any special alterations. I don't get why people insist on treating players of other editions as if they are creatures from another planet???!

Make your game fun and the game that the players happened to be enjoying last week won't matter.
