2004: What have you bought, what will you buy?

I was wondering (inspired by a few other threads): What are the D&D-related products you've bought this year, and what have you thought of them? What are the products you're looking forward to later this year?

Here is my list: (and, yes, I'm a WotC junkie, primarily because it's very hard for me to find and acquire non-Wizards d20 products)

Dragon Magazine: all issues this year - generally average to disappointing, though I'm looking forward to seeing how the "new" Dragon develops.

Dungeon Magazine: all issues this year - generally average to good. I'm enjoying the new format and style.

January:
Deluxe PC Sheets - average to disappointing, although my players like them. A pity the skill total boxes are so small, otherwise the layout isn't that bad.

Deluxe DM Screens - average. I use the new screen every session, and generally it just works as something to hide my notes.

February:
Unearthed Arcana - average to good. Love some of the options, though I don't use them in my standard-type of campaign - we used several of the optional rules in a swashbuckler mini-campaign, though, and they were great!

March:
Archfiends (D&D Minis expansion) - good, not exceptional - added a lot to the mini game and gave me several fun monsters for my D&D game, but overall I didn't find it as compelling or as useful as Dragoneye. (Much better for the Skirmish game, though).

April:
Map Folio I: - disappointing. Some of the maps are great (and I've used the Githyanki ones in a session to good effect), but others suffer greatly from the "I don't know how to use a grid" effect.

Expanded Psionics Handbook - good to exceptional. It has provoked me to allow psionics in my game (and I've two players who have fallen in love with the Soulknife class). A stand-out product of the year.

May:
Complete Divine - average to good. Not as stunning as Complete Warrior, though a fairly worthy book. The Practised Spellcaster feat has been the most important to my campaign, but the expanded lists of domains and deities are also great. I haven't noticed a problem with the editing in play..., but I haven't used it that much.

June:
Giants of Legends Huge Packs - good to exceptional. The sculpting and painting has come a long way, and there are many stunning figures in the set. There are still problems, but the game keeps improving.

July:
Planar Handbook - average. The Player's Guide to the Planes interested my players in various options available, though it's not immediately useful to my game.

Shadows of the Last War - good to exceptional. Great to see adventures again from Wizards, and I really look forward to running this one. :) The problems with it should be quickly solved by an experienced DM in play.

August:
Races of Stone - good to average. I'm not a big fan of dwarves and gnomes, but I appreciate this book. I really like the Racial Substitution levels and the new feats; one of these days I'll use this as the basis of an adventure in the dwarven or gnomish realms.

Still to buy...
Eberron Campaign Setting - out of stock in my FLGS; I haven't even seen it, but even for a Greyhawk fan like myself, this looks interesting.
Frostburn - anything to help me with wilderness adventures. :)
Monster Manual III - more monsters
Whisper of the Vampire's Blade - another adventure!
D&D Basic Game - because I'm a D&D evangelist
Aberrations (D&D Miniatures) - because
Map Folio II - hmm...
Complete Arcane - as I prefer playing arcane spellcasters...

Other products I'm still not sure about. :)

Cheers!

Way too much to remember and recall it all.

Relics and Rituals: Olympus: Good, solid treatement of the greeks and their mythology. It needs to be about a thousand pages longer to cover it to my satisfaction, but its a good start. THe prestige classes really stand out as fitting the setting perfectly. And trust me, that's high marks as I'm sick of useless prestige classes

Legends of Excaliber: RPGObject shined with this one. Frankly, I'm not that impressed with their Darwin world books, they are creative but the rules sections left me wanting more. This book however was solid from head to toe.

OGL Ancients: This Mongoose book is okay. It has a nice range of options that fits in well with other books of the more historical d20 types.

Babylon 5: I actuially have gotten 6 of this books this year. All of them great. They really capture the setting brilliantly and this is one of the best liscensed games I've seen in terms of covering the liscensed property.

Complete Book of the Divine: It has its uses......

There are many, many other books I've gotten this year.

I've bought:
Eberron Campaign Setting: looking forward to really playing it, but have another campaign I need to finish first
Shadows of the Last War: A cool looking adventure and the sequel Whispers of the Vampire Blade is another sure thing I'll buy
PH 3.5 and MM 3.5: eBay had this set for 28 Euros including shipping, I couldn't say no, previously I used the SRD and the 3.0 versions. Now if I can only find a good deal on the DMG 3.5...

I'm wanting/going to buy:
Whispers of the Vampire Blade: if the previous adventure is anything to go by...
The World Largest Dungeon: :D, with a title like that how can anyone say no. If only I had the money...
Monster Manual III: Some of the Art looks good and even the worst monster book has something inspiring so I'll probably buy it.
Frostburn: I like the description on the WotC site, though I'll probably wait on a review before buying it.
Sharn: I like Eberron, so sue me ;)
Libris Mortis: Although same as with Frostburn I'll probably wait on a review before buying it.

Most of these will probably only be bought around christmas and the dutch festivity Sinterklaas (Santa Claus, but earlier, without snow, reindeer and fat stomach but with Zwarte Pieten, Chimneys and a horse) as I can ask for money or the books themselves :)

No WoTC books since the 3.0 Core books and the FRCS.

I purchased Ancient Kingdoms: Mesapotamia and I am tempted by the Ravenloft Gaz IV.

I'll hang round for Green Ronin's Spiros Blaak and the Masque of the Red Death to see if they do it for me.

As an alternative, I might either try the Conan RPG (Mongoose) this winter or revive my FR Campaign with the possible addition of Shining South.

Complete Divine: Awful editing, good content.

Races of Stone: Amazing. Simply brilliant, made me love Dwarves, like Gnomes, and Goliaths are very interesting.

Expanded Psionics Handbook: Made me love Psionics. Balanced, interesting and loads of fun!

Still to buy:
Eberron: I keep putting it off, as I don't normally use published settings.
Complete Arcane: I'm a completist.

Oh, and minis. Loads of DDM!

Have this strange blank about what I've bought this year (not that there's much of it).

Bought
Pirates of Hagrost (Judges Guild)

To buy:
Conan RPG Atlantean Edition (Mongoose)
City State of the Invincible Overlord (Necromancer/JG)
ENWorld Journal (Mongoose)

It has got to the point I will just spur-of-the-moment buy anymore. If I see it and it looks good I will pick it up but I seem to lean to settings, DM aids, and monster books.

Alliance and Horde Compendium, Manual of Monsters, and Magic and Mayhem from the D20 Warcraft series. Fantastic! Dripping with flavor and goodies. Makes prestige classes what they should have been in the first place.

Giants of Legend D&D minis. I cannot comment on the skirmish version, as I only use them for my D&D games, but for that particular purpose the set was alright. Still putting out a ton of heroes and some very rare monsters. I would like to see more common creatures.

The Complete Warrior Excellent book.

Unearthed Arcana Cannot say enough about this. The optional rules in this bundle of paper are beyond wonderful.

I will be buying: Lands of Conflict (Warcraft), Monster Manual III, The Complete Arcane, Aberrations (D&D minis), Races of Stone, and possiblt the new undead book (Libris Exmortum?)
