Actually, my point of contention wasn't with Readied Actions, but with Supernatural Abilities; I couldn't recall if activating them counted as Free or Standard Actions, and I couldn't find any reference in the DMG. I just assumed they were Free.
It wasn't until late last night that I checked the PHB on a hunch, and found out that they are Standard Actions. So, yes, Istvan would have attacked just before the Reave began "fading"and, let's see- -- hit AC 25, doing 7 VP damage before DR. Enough to bang it around a bit, but not enough to interrupt it.

Whether it were a free or standard action wouldn't matter; a readied action always occurs before the action that triggers it. It wouldn't matter if it were a free, move, standard, swift or immediate action; a readied action trumps them all.[/sblock]Thanks for your patience Cage-Rattler. Scurry:, did you have a new character concept you wanted to try out, or were you thinking of adding to your idea of a warlock character?

I'd like to stick with the warlock, if you don't mind. (I've yet to play one, they look like fun, and entanglement with abyssal politics looks veeery interesting in light of events that have transpired.)
