I'm 31, but I've also been in this experience. Actually, my situation was even more interesting. You see, I found the name of one of my professors in grad school on a RPG site (not really sure about his age. I think he was 40). So, I stopped by his office and said hey, I noticed that you play D&D. It just so happened that I DM some games.
Well, I wound up in his game and he wound up in mine. In fact he stuck around for a full campaign. It was definitely worth the experience. Sure his playstyle was different from the other players at the table (though I don't think that was a factor of his age as much as his experience at RPGs), but that really made for some good group dynamics. Plus, he was pretty good at keeping the party on track in general. (Especially since one of the other players tended to like fire. Lots and lots of fire.)
