D&D 4E 4E: A Mid-Life Crisis

Two issues..

1. Chess is VERY old, and had its own evolution to the form we know today. (It evolved out of much older Indian games, and moved on from there.) if we were on a D&D edition in about 1000 years from now... then maybe we can compare... ;) (I also believe castling as a rule is a relatively recent invention isn't it? But I could be wrong.)

2. To be similar to chess, we'd also have to basically be happy with the core books... and then nothing else. Chess sells chess sets. It doesn't have to worry about splat books or supporting game designers.

Very funny. And very light-hearted fun poked at 4e.

I expected it to be regarded as such by the pro-4e, neutral-43, and anti-43 camps.

I was surprised at the number of posts picking apart the "flaws" in the analogy/thread. I shouldn't have been, but I was.

For crying out loud, if you can't find the humor in a post as harmless as this one, see if WotC can make you a sense of humor and package it with your 4e rulebooks.

Lighten up people, at the end of the day it's still a hobby.

In the new WOTC version, Knights have been re-named Super-Ultra-Dragon-Fist-Adepts, and now have a special power that allows them to to move like Queens if a game is played on a Tuesday by someone named Fred!

Wait, sooooo, WotC is doing a hybrid of Chess and Dragon Poker? Dude, sign me up!

Well, I suppose this new cougar is better than the old ones with their bellbottoms (1e), parachute pants (2e) or that trashy pop-star look (3e).

But hey, that might be my fault for not being attracted to women trapped in the past.
