4e [Eberron] BnP Keep on the Shadowfell (Yea, though I walk through the valley of th)

Iridian takes one last careful shot before 'Douven' makes it out of bow shot.

[sblock=ooc]for all of these I forgot to add +1 for ranger thingy - Prime Shot (adding to character sheet now)

@ 22 squares:atk, dmg (1d20 6=18, 1d10 1d8 4=20)
and @ 22 squares - second shot: atk,dmg take 2 (1d20 6=23, 1d10 1d8 4=22) possibly a huge hit?

@40 squares take 1:
atk, dmg at 40 (1d20 6=24, 1d10 1d8 4=10) possibly a hit?

@40 shot 2:atk,dmg@40/2 (1d20 6=12, 1d10 1d8 4=11) a miss

also note that I have Hunter's Quarry on Douven, so there was another 1d8dmg to the rolls you made for me.

The first time "Douven" surfaces Iridian loses two arrows in rapid succession. The ranger scans the water for a long time, but he never surfaces again.

"Curses!" Zaram cries. "I knew that Douven wasn't like this. But what exactly happened here?" He assists in saying prayers over the body, the name of Siberys can be heard in his whispers. Zaram looks over the bodies of the humans for any clues. If nothing is found he tries to find Iridian. "Any luck? He had a chest, wooden I believe. It might float if he was in the water."

The chest is, in fact, bobbing in the water about 6 squares off shore. Getting it out is trivially easy, so long as someone is willing to get wet.

If nobody else obliges, Zaram begins pulling off his plate armor. His black scales shining dullly in the light of the sun. Warily he steps into the water and begins to swim out to the chest.

OOC: Athletics untrained +4

Zaram slips into the placid water of the lake, easily retreiving the bobbing chest the changeling was trying so desperately to escape with.

Inside is a black bone. Several feet in length it almost certainly came from some immense creature. Runes are carved along it's surface.

The bone is old. The runes suggest it has some sort of magical nature but Adain can't suss out what precisely it would be for. It's certainly not a traditional magical item.

[sblock=Religion -> Adain]It's not your area of expertise, but the underside ruins do seem to include pictographs reminiscent of ones copies of one you saw in a book once. The originals had apparently been found in an degenerate cave of Dragon Below cultists.

Themes of summoning, freeing and opening pathways seem to predominate among the runes that you can read.[/sblock]

Adain looks at the bone distastefully. A relic of dark cults tied to the darkness of the One Below. May have had historical value from Douven's perspective, but its probably dangerous to those of lesser moral fiber. His eyes look cooly at the dead thieves. As I said, best we return to town with the body in preparation for our return tomorrow. There is nothing for us here now. We can take this as well, return it to his Morgrave backers.
