:( Other, i'm going back to 2nd edition, I have never cared for the feel of 3rd edition, it just doesn't feel right, like it should be a computer rpg or something, besides i've already got most of the 2nd edition stuff and it's just to expensive to try and keep up with the new stuff coming out.

I would never write off playing 4E until I have checked out the finished rules. I am also not going to stop runing 3.x games, since I enjoy them so much. However, I do not think this will be too much of a problem since most of what I see leads me to believe that they will be very different games anyway, which is a good thing in my mind.

My hope now is that a third party will do the folloiwng for 3.x

1) Remove the non-biological aspects from the races

2) Introduce cultural backrgound that grant background skills and a few other abilities . The cultural packages could be mixed and matched with races to create combinations for a campaign.

3) Redesign the classes so that
a) the classes are talent and feat trees.
b) Classes do not provide automatic armor and weapon proficiencies
c) first level characters receive a set number of bonus feats from their initial class to be spent on class specific feats.
d) classes grant a one time save bonus to first level characters

4) have classes using the same save progression

5) include a good class based defense system

We have similar thoughts about things that would improve 3.x in a number of areas.

After trying to beat 3.5 into Sword & Sorcery submission, I'm going to move to Conan D20. The only trick for me is that I have to convert my DM Genie for the Conan ruleset, which will take a couple months.

Just for kicks, I might try and put a Sword & Sorcery game together using FUDGE. I just picked it up, and it looks like it might be a nice change of pace from D20 world. :)

While there are some things I do like about 4e and will probably convert those things to 3.5e the truth is I am still enjoying my 3.5 games and quite frankly getting to old to be changing editions.

I'll be playing 3.5 with at least Pathfinder, Ptolus, a few of the old Goodman Games books like the boxed sets and I have a lot of other little adventures I'm going to be tying together to make some campaigns.

I will however, be stealing various bits from 4e like the new Toughness and the Death and Dying Rules and maybe even the elimination of Diagonal movement penalties.

Further, time permiting, I don't imagine myself sticking soley with 3.5 anymore in the future than I do now as I still play Warhammer FRPG and Fantasy Hero (and with my recent purchase of the old Rolemaster Classic, would love to get back to that.)

Right now I am only halfway conviced to switch to 4th edition, the other half of me jst wants to stick with 3.5 and use the 4.0 core rules for plundering.

Currently 3e is the only rpg I can stand to play because its the only one that has enough tactical complexity. I'm very 4e-positive, though I don't like everything I've read. It's virtually certain to have as much, if not more, of the sweet, sweet krunchy kombat I krave so much.

So I voted for 3e and 4e but if I end up all I-looooove-you over 4e then I will ditch my former lover and stop two timing. I feel it's the honest thing to do.
