5th Level Wizard Has 2 Daily And 2 Encounter Powers

By the time I'm a 5th level 3E wizard, I may be keeping track of 13 daily powers; as a 4E wizard, I'm keeping track of 2 dailies and 2 encounters.

That sounds right. I had a progression worked out at one point somewhere. I think in the wizard powers PHB pages thread.

"keeping track" usually means writing down whether or not you've used them.

Because you don't have to track wether or not you've used your at will powers.

They introduce more round by round decisions, but no additional bookkeeping.

Because you don't have to track at will powers. Yes you have them but because they are at will you do not need to track them like /e /d or 3E spells

I also noticed that trip is now a power not an option for everyone, I wonder if that has happened to disarm, bullrush, etc?

Not entirely true Lay on Hand is an at-will power that can be used only three times per day.

It is somewhat amusing that 4e Paladins seem quite a bit more complicated in their resource management than 4e Wizards, yes.

Not entirely true Lay on Hand is an at-will power that can be used only three times per day.

I believe that Lay on Hands can be used times per day equal to the Paladin's charisma modifier. Since the Paladin had 16 char (+3 bonus), I think it's a reasonable guess.


I like the new casting system, it's nice and neat. I wonder how many spells the wizard can keep in his spellbook and can he swap out encounter spells like daily spells.
