D&D General 6E But A + Thread

This feels like a contradiction. Can you elaborate?
Certainly.

You are assumed to get magical items and piles of gold as you adventure.

The DM is supposed to give you a magic sword and a magic hat eventually. At least by level 7.

The DM is not forced to give you a magic sword +1 and a magic hat of intimidation +5 to keep you up with the math of challenges.

The DM can give you a magic sword +1 and a magic hat of intimidation +5 as a purely added bonus.

Nonmathematical magic items and services might be expected if certain aspects are in the setting

Yeap. I realized during the edition wars how much D&D means to people. Especially since 5E launch. Folks want a particular experience from D&D and its often found elsewhere, but elsewhere is not good enough. The mantle worn by D&D is apparently worth fighting for and anything less is unacceptable to some.

Its a attempt to make others play their way imho.

You can get a game that does XYZ you like good luck finding players though.

Even if your D&D sells 90% less than WotC D&D it's probably X10 bigger than your preferences.

I don't think that tracks at all. I don't think, based on the history of RPG design, there's any reason to think people who started with system X will merely always make incremental changes to system X. In fact, I think those people are among those most likely to make revolutionary changes.

Beyond could keep going just fine with a non-compatible new edition, in fact it makes WotC better positioned to do so than if they didn't have Beyond.
A compatible edition means the back catalog remains viable.

I'm not saying I expect no changes, but the pressures seem more likely to push towards changes like between Call of Cthulu editions, rather than anything fundamentally radical.

It doesnt? Its marketed to the (supposed) influx players, who are part of the post-Tashas design/presentation group of players.

Its not looking for new players or markets, at all, its INTENTIONALLY more of the same post-Tashas.

They use beyond now for playtesting.

Self selection hard core players who lean towards more complexity/power.

If anything kills 5.5 it's losing the casuals. Or the DMs.

Except that CoC still reissues their most popular modules, right?

I don't know what Plotweaver is, nor do I particularly care.
This thread is supposed to be about what you would like 6E D&D to look like.
Supposed to.

ENworld wont agree on anything and everyone thinks theyre right. Mostly out of touch as well.

Generally we skew older and have played multiple editions. That's probably sub 10% if not 5% of the player base now.
