D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I disagree, I have definitely seen sentiment like that. I can't be 100% sure it was this thread as I jump around a lot, but I think it has been expressed here. I have specifically seen the idea applied to Shadow of the Weird Wizard / Demon Lord in this very thread. To be clear I believe it is the philosophy of taking X game and making it D&D, not Shadowdark specifically, that I believe @Remathilis is talking about.
I know I mentioned Schwalb's Shadow duology in glowing terms, was it me? Feel free to call me out! I have many more hot takes!

this may not be what they intended with the metaphor but i took it to mean 'yes, these spells exist, yes, their existence should definitely be acknowledged and accounted for, but just because they exist that doesn't mean their existence is definitively beneficial or should be gleefully embraced and encouraged'
pretty close if you change "spells" to "cell phones."

in current?
+1 mod or 2 feats without ASI.
There is the problem. The current design of the game doesn't accommodate that.* Now, a revision to the game certainly could, but not my personal preference.

*To rephrase that: the current design has feats with +1 ability score bonus. You would eliminate that option if you got rid of ability scores for mods only (assume we don't want to track 1/2 modifier increase - which I sure don't).

It would just be a +1 mod. However, you would loss the ability to have a half feat with a +1 to ability score if you replaced ability scores with ability modifiers only
yeah, I get that this is what you would have to do, but it is one area where there is a change, and I am not sure we need it / it improves things

how does it not?
just use modifiers.
then when you get ASI level, increase one modifier by +1, or take 2 feats, no increase in stats with feats.
