A Clash of Earth and Sea (El Jefe Judging) [See Part II]

How many cure spells do the clerics have left? How weak would we be in the morning?

Iggy will prepare the following spells
Level 0 (4+1 div): detect magic(D), light(x2), message(x2)
Level 1 (3+1 int+1 div): mage armor, color spray, True Strike(D), magic missile, SMI
Level 2 (2+1 int+1 div): invisibility, detect thoughts(D), scorching ray, mirror image
Level 3 (1+1 int+1 div): Clairaudience/Clairvoyance(D), Haste(x2)

"The water will be awful on these bodies. Can either of you clerics prepare a spell to stabalize them so they won't bleed out underwater? I don't see how to bring them underwater without attracting sharks. But I don't know that we have a choice. I suppose we could split up, and a couple of us could go speak to the merrow and hope we can get one to come to the surface with us to cast the spell in shallow water. Assuming that they are able to raise dead. They may not be. What say three of us head down to the speak to them & let the rest stay up here? If they can't raise them, we still don't want to do another underwater attack."

Something as innocent as a lock of hair would do, you could even give the rest of the body a decent burial.

So long as some small portion of the creature’s body still exists, it can be reincarnated, but the portion receiving the spell must have been part of the creature’s body at the time of death.

Charlarn of Phyrah: male human cleric 4/ranger 2

Charlarn has three orisons left that he can convert to cure minor wounds. He also has a scroll with 5 cure light wounds. The next morning he can cast a maximum of 3 cure moderate wounds, 4 cure light wounds, and 5 cure minor wounds.

Charlarn speaks, "I can ask Lady Phyrah for an incantation that preserves those who have traveled beyond. That should help. I prefer to travel underwater in numbers. The devilfish gave us trouble before. I don't want anymore of us to die."

Planus has 4 orisons remaining on the day leaving the cave and no higher level spells. After resting he can cast 5 0th level, 4 1st level, and 3 2nd level. He has no healing items.

I can ask Lady Phyrah for an incantation that preserves those who have traveled beyond.
"Yes, Mongrel also grants a similar blessing. Charlarn, should we each do a bit of healing before we go? I feel like I've been sitting in the sun for the last year and maybe roasting over an open fire too boot, and Iggy looks a little worse for wear as well. Or, you know, you could use your spells and I could save mine for combat, since, you know, you're a better fighter than me." That last is mumbled at a tone just above a whisper.

Before they go, Planus approaches one of the more in charge looking residents of the compound. "Thank you sir for your exquisite hospitality in these trying times. As we venture forth into these murky waters, I imagine my trusty bow will be, ahem, less than useful. Could I perhaps borrow a longspear from you fine people. I will return it, I assure you."

OOC:
A bluff +7 may be applicable to the returning the longspear. Planus has no intention of keeping it, but is not overly careful about forgetting to return it either.

HP after 8 hours rest, and use all yesterday's orisons from both clerics used on Charlarn and Iggy:
Jack (25 of 25 hp)
Opale (Dead)
Iggy (16 of 26 hp)
Planus (20 of 26 hp)
Charlarn (38 of 38 hp)
Ducane (Dead)

"We should, Planus." A slight smile flickers across Charlarn's face. "I'm not that good of a warrior. Jack puts us both to shame." That night by the campfire, the Phyran cleric plays a mournful song on his panpipes.

The next morning after he prays to the Searcher, Charlarn touches Iggy's burn and heals (1d8+4=10) with a cure light wounds. He then examines Planus's wound and casts cure light wounds on the Mongrelite cleric, healing (1d8+4=10).

Cleric Spells Prepared (5/4+1/3+1: save DC 13 + level):
0-detect magic, guidance, light (2), mending;
1-bless, cure light wounds (2), sanctuary*, summon monster I;
2-enthrall, shield other*, silence, spiritual weapon.
*Domain spell.

OOC: Charlarn is approved for 6th level

"Must we bring all of their bodies with us?" Jack asks, playing up the part he's apparently been given.

"No, seriously," Jack reiterates practically, still waiting for an answer to his question. "If we're going to pop their ghosts into completely new bodies... Why do we need to drag along what amounts to two hundred pounds of shark bait?"

"No offense meant," he adds as an aside to the dead bodies.

ooc: Well, I responded to your statement seriously... though I don't think anyone rolled any spellcraft checks.

"I can't say I know a great deal about raising the dead. The only raised dead I've ever seen was some brain eating zombies. Those things sure were gross so I don't think that's what Iggy has in mind."

OOC: Sorry, Planus isn't really into the whole studying thing. No ranks in spellcraft.

OOC: Yep... Metagame-wise, I knew the answer when I first asked it. Jack, however, doesn't. And none of the spellcasters have answered his question in-game yet.
