Pathfinder 1E A gripey letter to Paizo

Yep, when I moved to Seattle back in '98, I made the foolish mistake of shipping all of my D&D stuff via the post office and labeling the boxes so I could more easily sort them when I unpacked. A whole box labeled "old Forgotten Realms stuff" showed up sealed but empty. I had packed it myself at home so I know the stuff was in there, so it seems pretty clear that som postal D&D fan grabbed it on purpose. What is weird is the way they taped the empty box back up and kept it moving through the system instead of just tossing the evidence.

Yeah, you don't have to laugh, I felt dumb enough at the time.

I don't think that is funny. Would that be classified as mail fraud? Too bad they were not insured, because I'd be DAMN sure to get a refund. :]

Just in case, next time, I'd write a code-word on the package, such as FR or EalmsRay OrgottenFay.

Between four to six of your issues are lost per year?

What really surprises me about this thread is that a company *would* be so generous to send-out 4-6 replacement copies. I would've guessed that any magazine-company would assume I was scamming them and selling the extra copies after the 2nd or 3rd call to customer surface per year.

Heck, the odds of the USPS randomly losing even 3 copies in mail per year must be astronomically high.

Yet you receieved 4-6 replacement copies in twelve months. I'm stunned. If I was in charge, free replacements would stop after #2.

I didn't think it was funny either, I was pretty annoyed, especially since most of the stuff was out of print. For that reason, even if it had been insured, I wouldn't have been able to replace most of it (though in subsequent years, I have found and replaced several items via the used bin at local games stores). There's still several items I have not replaced, but since I don't really play FR anymore, it's just the annoyance to know that it should be there and isn't. They postal service did an investigation of sorts, but I don't think it amounted to anything other than someone taking down my number and calling me back two weeks later and saying that they couldn't tell what went wrong.

When I moved back to Boston, I just numbered the boxes and kept a list with me showing what was in each box.

Sorry for the tangent, we now return to your regularly scheduled topic...

I once I had a pacakge going to Germany delivered and signed for at an address in upstate New York. I still can't figure out how that happened (as the actual address and the address it was delivered to are no where near to being similar).

Er, I'll send that to you right away. :p

The way I look at it, failure to get the issues into your mailbox and then saying "oops, too bad, we're not going to bother replacing them" constitutes mail fraud. You paid for something to be sent to you. It's their responsibility to make sure you get it. If the postal service is known to be unreliable (as they claim it is) then they have the obligation to use a reliable service to get you your magazines. It's not the customer's job to get the magazines to the customer's house. It's theirs.

**Update**

Just got back from vacation. No magazines. Checking the paizo site I find out that not only should I have received #333, I should also have #334 by now, because #335 has shipped. So I'm down not one, but two issues in a row. Now that's bloody awful. Somewhere along the line, someone's stealing my magazines.

Now, since this is such a rare occurrence, as Mr. Strohm has suggested, I suppose I should go out and buy a lottery ticket, because I'm apparently on a roll for improbable events. This is why I didn't resubscribe last time. I was fed up with having to chase down issues. Granted, their website is much better now, so I can more easily figure out that I'm not going to get my magazines, but that's cold comfort considering that eventually they're going to pass the buck and tell me that I don't get any more replacements.

Allow me to reiterate: If this problem (missing issues) is so rare, then it costs them practically nothing to replace all the missing issues. So why are they cutting off DungeonmasterCal? He paid for a certain number of issues. Failure to provide them is fraud. If it's such a one-in-a-million problem, then obviously it's no skin off their back to fix it. Why are they refusing to send him his issues?

I've sub'ed to Dungeon since about #55 or so and haven't missed any that I recall, although some have been delivered up to two weeks later than I've seen someone post "I've got issue X-What's inside".

Which is really not a big deal for me since I generally add it to the top of the stack with the other couple of magazines I read, rather than tearing into it immediately.

I would be quite annoyed if I had similar problems with delivery and no FLGS who carried it or other outlets to acquire my subscribed copies. Darn WotC for not allowing pdf distribution.

Darn them to heck! :] ;)

Hmm. Could there be some sort of voucher that could be given to subscribers whose magazines routinely get lost in the mail that would allow them to pick up their copy from a retailer? Just a thought.

I started a subscription 6 months months before 3E came out, after 15 years, and have had great service. Never missed an issue yet.

Sorry to hear about the issues some are having. I know I would be torqued too.

still waiting in Hotlanta.

looks like the streak of on time issues ended at 3.

diaglo "4 of the last 6 issues on time, 5 on time since nov 03, has every issue from the beginning until this month... and his subscription doesn't run out for another 31" Ooi

A little support

Thought I'd chime in as another long time subscriber to both magazines who's never missed an issue. :D

Sorry for you guys that are having problems though.

Happened to me as well. And a friend of mine. Apparently the postal workers here in Sweden are big fans of Dragon and Dungeon.

To Paizo's credit they were very helpful and understanding, and eventually refunded me my money as I cancelled the subscription. They were friendly and courteous.

Have been picking the mag up from the FLGS since then. Love the mag, a bummer I can't subscribe. ;)

Cheers!
