I've been told that the problem was caused by the PDF generator that we previously used, Jaws PDF Creator. It created compressed PDfs according to its own programming, which made PDFs that could be read onscreen or printed, but were unusable for most anything else. They all had to be redone at the end of 2003 because the files couldn't be indexed for Acrobat's built in search index engine.
Would you like a new copy that does not have the technical deficiencies of the two year old copy you received?
