A new Bardic College (?)

Tom Coxon

First Post
Hello all,

I started running a new campaign recently using a homebrew world, which seems to be working at the minute. One of the players is a Bard/Troubadour/Manservant for a Questing Knight(Paladin), but as they are coming up to Level3 we were looking at the Bardic Colleges and none really seem to fit the Character. So we came up with a new College and I was wanting some feedback on it. I feel it is fairly balanced but wanted a second and third opinion.
Please feel free to rip it to shreds and offer suggestions on what to build it up with.

College of Heroes
Great tales are told of heroes down the centuries and everyone of them inspires the next generation, but how do heroes become heroes? They don't just wake up one morning and become masters of battle and heroism, they were trained and their stories passed on. This is the role of the Bards of the College of Heroes.
This College is inspired by Philotetes from Greek History(and Disney's Hercules) and Paul Bettany when he was playing Chaucer in A Knights Tale.

3rd level
Bonus Proficiencies:- History(For the tales of heroes to inspire others)
Shields and Martial Weaponry(to help train the aspiring hero)

Mentor:-
Your studies allow you to figure out an enemy's weakness, allowing you to help the aspiring heroes.
As an Action target an enemy within 60 ft and spend a Bardic Inspiration die as you shout to your allies a weak spot in the enemy. The target suffers a minus 2 to AC until the start of your next turn.

6th level
Inspired Heroism
You take a moment to embolden an ally with tales of heroes in the past and how they overcame obstacles.
As an Action target a friendly creature within 15 feet of you. If they understand your words they become immune to being frightened and gain temporary hit points equal to your charisma modifier(minimum 1) at the start of each of their turns for 1 minute. When the effect ends any remaining temporary hit points are lost.
Once you use this feature you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

14th level
Don't you know who they are?
You speak briefly about the deeds of a nearby hero building up their prowess to the enemy.
As an action target an ally within sight. All enemy creatures who understand the language spoken and within 60 ft of the you, need to make a Wisdom save vs your spell DC or become frightened of the target ally for 1 minute. Affected creatures can attempt the save at the end of each of their turns.
Once you use this feature you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.

Maybe this College could upcast the Heroism cantrip on the whole group, using a Bardic Inspiration die to do it.
Similar to the College of Whispers getting an Alpha Strike capability by expending an Inspiration die.

Thanks for the thoughts, we did think about it but we wanted to have more of a one on one flavour of mentor to student or personal herald to aspiring hero, but allowed others to take advantage of the shouted instruction for the level 3 feature.
Also Heroism is not a cantrip, it is a level one spell. I chose to use it as the level 6 feature but took out the need for concentration but gave it the once a day restriction.
