A Review of 6E

You guys missed the idea. Why buy the book when you can download the nural interface ready SRD with autoupdates?

I'm glad they only went semi-point buy by class instead of full point buy like some people wanted. You can't drop classes completely or else it wouldn't be D&D. I do think that stretching the levels will be irritating, but at least there's not a significant power difference between a 53rd and a 56th level characters (for example). And who would want to play past 100? I hear cries for epic levels starting at 101, but 100 should be plenty. After that, you stretch the d100 mecanics beyond reason.

Any news on any extra D100 OGL support?

A couple questions:

1) What kind of beings are Kobolds now? IIRC they were one or two dozen editions ago changed from Outsiders (native, scaly, snaky, green) to Monstrous Humanoids (scaly, draconic, blue, green, positive energy). Do they have legs again?
2) Are Baatezu still playable? I understand that is has changed over the years. Are the rules for lawful chaotic advancement still the same?
3) Have they finally included Slaadi again, or are the words of William Henry Gates-Baker VII "Only enemies of our glorious world-nation want chaotic outsiders. Are you an enemy?" final?
4) Any rules updates on Epic Level? The game really breaks apart after level 200. You can only kill so many gods before it becomes boring. They need to do something about that, or they will go under, seriously.
5) Seeing that I don't have the means to buy the rules (it is kind of difficult if you are a dolphin, even though the anti-discrimination laws... well, nevermind), would you say they are worth the money?

You do realize that all trees used to make paper in the US are grown specifically for that purpose?
Not since the Tree Liberation Act was passed back in 2011, making it illegal to raise a tree into a life of virtual slavery, putting an end to "inhumane" tree farms. Still can't figure out how they got that one through Congress. We've been importing paper ever since, but that's really expensive.

Hence the move to using soy-based synthsheet for everyday hardcopies, but hardcopy is so 20th century. I mean, I'm a bit of a traditionalist, so when I bought the hardcopy of 5.75 in synthsheet is was already over $300, the Collectors Edition with imported actual wood-pulp paper was $600, and I couldn't bring myself to buy it (not to mention the Collectors Edition didn't even incorporate the Errata!).

I'm really pleased that epic play isn't getting all the attention and they've greatly expanded the rules for Milksop-Level play. Before there just wasn't enough granularity to deal with creatures in the .25 to 1hp range, like the dire gnat and axiomatic shrew. And the cantrip spell-list was pathetic!

You epic, mega-epic, and ulti-mega-epic guys get lots of material, but for those of us who want sub-level one adventures, this is a new era. There's nothing like the thrill of your infant elf kicking to .7th level and increasing an age category to toddler. Or polymorphing into a sladdi-tadpole. Or taking down a half-troll tabby. Man, that's what D&D's all about.

1. Yes, you are. And it's now 53 novels, though to spare you from having to trudge through novel #51, Drizzt Experiences Intestinal Discomfort, I'll just tell you now that the keyword in that book is "purge".

What? #51 is my favorite one from the whole hectaology! That's the one where he grows a third arm and uses seven dancing scimitars simultaneously, and his gouged-out left eye is replaced with a miniaturized orb of annihilation. Freaking Cool...

Have they updated the SRD to reflect the changes in d20 Modern 4.5? And did they finally fix unarmed combat from that rediculious system where you hire homeless lawyers to fight to death in the garage? I realize that the Lawyer Population Control Act allows them to be used as random outcome generators, but all of the papers left around are tough to clean up?

And did they fix the damage from "ouchies" and "booboos" to actual damage, and fix that error in the ranges where they were printed in mm?

And do the core rules take into account that Hurricane Bush wiped out the offshore living spaces in the Gulf of Mexico? I hate that half the random generation for PC creation lists places that are 2 miles underwater, but gills STILL aren't included? Last game all of the PC's died when they were born 2 miles underwater in New Atlanta.

Oh, and does anyone else have a problem with that Orc on page 22 of the Monster Manual punching you in face every time you open the MM? I've tried replacing my VR pressor beam drivers, but now he just hits me twice.

Oh, watch out for the Church of Virtual Science, they've started claiming that the DMG III from 4.5 is a holy text, and have been spraying people with deoderant who possess one.

BTW-Whoever borrowed my Return to the Outskirts of the Antechamber of the Chapel of the Temple of Para-Elemental Vaugely Shadowy (BUT NOT EVIL) Spookiness implant chip, I want it back. I downloaded the 100' Arms Beatdown(TM) from the Ozzieland server, and I'm ready to fight over it!

Have they updated the rules on interrupting/countering attacks of opportunity? I hope the new rules don't increase the time to resolve combat too long.

This is something I found on the Wizard's site...

Countering or interrupting an attack of opportunity can be done by distracting the GM by throwing a live crab or jar of spiders on him or her. This is considered a free action, during which, your character will take 5d10 points of virtual damage unless you have the Ignore GM or Virtial Hardening feats.

I'm not sure, I never allowed AoO's to be interrupted after they suggested that players kick the GM in the shins or uploaded the counter-attack virus to the GM's firmware.
