A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

[sblock=Rrek's actions]Dekana's plan looks good, but isn't it considered bad form to use action points and encounter powers when NPCing a player character? Apart from that it seems like a solid move.

I suppose he could skip the Second Wind and then not require an action point (but it's a good move to use it now before entering a stink aura.) Also he could use booming blade instead of Sword of Sigils on the staff frog instead of using an encounter power. Or use Second Wind and move to the staff frog but not attack it.

(To be clear I think Dekana's proposed moves are better than any of the above, if using the AP and encounter powers is not a concern.)[/sblock]

Using AP/encounter powers without his consent would be a fauxpas. I think we will need to either have Rrek continue to deal with the giant frog, or mark the frog and then move towards the staff wielder as best he can. The holiday season probably hasn't caught up with him, and I know that I would be upset if someone used my encounter powers without my consent.[/sblock]

Got tied up at work, looks like Reklaw has until tomorrow. Just about to head out for today. I wouldn't feel comfortable using an AP/encounter power (as you only have 1 at this level), but the plan is very sound Dekana. I hope he gets back soon, it also takes a big hit to your efficiency if someone's forced to use at-wills. 'night [/sblock]

[sblock=Rrek's actions]Let's see... Rrek cannot get to the staff guy with one move unless he uses that encounter power. So the best options in my opinion:

1) Mark frog (minor), move adjacent to staff guy (move x2 and take OA from frog)
2) Mark frog (minor), move partway to staff guy (move and take OA from frog), lightning lure vs. staff guy (staff guy will have cover from table)
3) Mark frog (minor), attack frog (at will), stay put.

His mark seems best if he actually moves away from the marked opponent, making 1 or 2 pretty tempting. But then we're also making him take an opportunity attack. I think maybe we should just go with #3 for the sake of simplicity and "do no harm".[/sblock]

"Dorn!" Ingot calls out. "Can you clear these frogmen from in front of the door?"

"As you wish", Dorn replies, neatly incinerating the two nearest croakers. The half-orc extends his hand dramatically, indicating the place where Ingot may now enter the fray.

"Good work, Dorn!" Ingot calls out. It mutters a healing prayer. "Great Forger, once more I ask for your blessing to repair my ally Jax. I know you have repaired him a lot already today, but his damage is due to enemy action and not a lack of regular preventive maintenance..."

Ingot strides through the door towards Crag. As it moves into position, it slides across the muddy ground, putting the momentum into its swing. The fullblade bites deeply into the frog's slimy flesh, cutting a wide gash that sprays blood and ichor. Vulkar's hammer sign floats over the frog, guiding Crag's next strikes.

"Thanks for protecting my back Dorn!"

An image of a hammer and anvil flash in Crag's vision on the chest of the giant frog. Reacting quickly, Crag stabs forward, piercing slimy flesh. Crag turns and looks at the Bullywug to his left and rips his blade out of the giant frog sideways not even watching as it quickly bleeds out. Crag continues his sword arm's momentum and turns the enchanted longsword on the bullywug in front of him. The magically sharp edge slices cleanly into the chest of the unfortunate bullywug and it crumples to the ground while the earth churns. Bits of rock and earth appear in the area around Crag, making the area difficult to navigate for his enemies. Not wanting to see his friends get blasted by the staff wielding Bullywugs again, Crag charges the one directly to the south, sloshing through mud and making a magnificent leap over the table to land in front of his target. The mud follows Crag and coats his form, creating a protective barrier as he flies over the table. Pointing his sword at the staff wielder in front of him he chastises his enemy.

"Don't you look at them!" he says, referring to his allies. "You deal with me!"

Jax focuses on reloading his crossbow for a moment. Without taking his eyes off the weapon, he says "Thanks metal-man. I feel better already!"

To emphasize that, the kobold dashes out into the battlefield. Going in the direction of Crag, he leaps over the mud wallow, slides underneath a portion of the table, and takes aim at the nearest staff-wielder. Jax takes advantage of his momentary concealment to fire a shot at the frogman's unguarded belly.

Rrek weaves an arcane gesture and then departs from the frog towards the other staff-wielder.

[sblock=ooc] What about :
4. Mark Frog (minor), Shift 1 square (move), Move towards staff wielder (standard changed to move) - I like it because it doesn't subject him to an OA (again I'd rather not add extra damage without his consent)[/sblock]

The giant frog throws a tongue at Ingot, but the cleric easily dodges the blow. The amphibian jumps over and chomps down on Ingot. The magical protection of Rrek keeps the blow from hurting, but the warforged finds himself inside the belly of the beast, unable to move as paralytic juices flow over its body.

The staff wielders open their mouths and unleash blasts of lightning that slam into Rrek and Crag, leaving them both reeling. They then move to more advantageous positions.

Giant 68 tries to pull Ingot towards him, but fails so it moves next to him and bites - vs ref; vs ac; dmg (1d20 5=7, 1d20 6=25, 1d6 3=4) hits for 4 0 (from aegis) damage and you are swallowed, stunned, ongoing 5 damage, and can't be targeted by any effects (save ends)

staff 57 uses electric reflux - vs ref; cold/lightning damage (1d20 8=26, 2d6 4=10) hits Crag for 10 cold/lightning damage and you're dazed (save ends), it then moves next to Jax

[sblock=terrain features]
Illumination: A trio of braziers burning a pungent fungus provides illumination in this room. The braziers provide bright illumination out to 4 squares, with spaces beyond this ranged counting as dim light.

Ceiling: The ceiling is 15 feet high.

Bookcases/Shelves: The large bookcases and shelving units in this room are 10 feet high and have been magically shaped directly from the surrounding
stone of the walls. They cannot be toppled over, but they can be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check.

Braziers: If tipped over, each brazier creates a burst 1 zone of greasy smoke that provides total concealment to those within it. The zone lasts until the end of the creature’s turn that tipped over the brazier.

Mud Wallow: The mud here is roughly knee-deep to a Medium creature, and the wallow is considered difficult terrain.

Tables: A character can jump onto a table with a DC 20 Athletics check (remember the –2 penalty to Athletic checks imposed by the muddy squares).
Anyone behind a table has cover (–2 penalty to attack rolls against him) and anyone beneath the table has superior cover (–5 penalty to attack rolls against him). The tables are solid stone and are bolted to the floor; they cannot be tipped over.[/sblock]

[sblock=Electric Reflux] Is that a close burst power or a ranged power? If it's a ranged power, wouldn't Crag get an Opportunity Attack?[/sblock]

"INGOT!" Dorn shouts. (Shift one square west)

"LET HIM GO!" Dorn's anger manifests in psychic shards of pure energy, and one of the staff wielders is sent flying ( Bedeviling burst misses giant, hits bloodied staff wielder for 11 psychic damage. Slide the staff wielder to G2)

OOC: I guess Ingot can't do anything but roll a save (and take 5 damage), eh? Can't even use divine fortune for +1... but does get +1 since it's ongoing damage. Failed.

The distended belly of the giant frog shakes and quivers slightly as its contents struggle futilely.
