A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

// nerdytenor, I don't think anyone was talking about the frog here, they were talking about a bullywug. I think Dekana is right, the staff wielder is now dead thanks to hits from Jax, Crag, and Dorn.

[sblock=RRek] If Rrek is dazed (he got hit by the lightning breath, right?) then I would probably have him go full defense. If he's NOT dazed, I would have him move to the last staff-wielder, mark it, and use booming blade on it. [/sblock]

"INGOT!" Dorn shouts.

"LET HIM GO!" Dorn's anger manifests in psychic shards of pure energy, and one of the staff wielders is sent flying

The distended belly of the giant frog shakes and quivers slightly as its contents struggle futilely.

After getting jolted by the electricity, Terra wraps a cloak of dusty earth around him, grounding him and keeping him from feeling the continuous course of energy as it harmlessly flows out of him. Jumping onto the table, Crag towers over his foe.

"You leave Jax alone!" Crag says as he swings his longsword at the wounded bullywug. The longsword leaves a gash in the slimy creatures hide and it's enough damage to leave the staff wielder dead. Another coating of mud surrounds Crag and hardens into a protective barrier.

Jax gives a mental high-five to Crag when he shrugs off the electric charge and cuts down the bullwug. However, he doesn't say anything yet for fear of giving away his hiding position. Jax creeps under the table for a few paces, blending into the shadows as best as he can manage. When he thinks he is unobserved, he reloads his crossbow and snipes at the remaining frogman. With a low "thunk," the bolt sails into a table leg beside its target.

Rrek takes up a defensive posture but can't shake the cobwebs from his head.

Total defense - save (1d20=9) fails save, still dazed)[/sblock]

The remaining staff wielder spits more flames, but fails to connect with Crag or Jax. The frog jumps through Dorn, who barely gets out of the way of it barreling through.

[sblock=terrain features]
Illumination: A trio of braziers burning a pungent fungus provides illumination in this room. The braziers provide bright illumination out to 4 squares, with spaces beyond this ranged counting as dim light.

Ceiling: The ceiling is 15 feet high.

Bookcases/Shelves: The large bookcases and shelving units in this room are 10 feet high and have been magically shaped directly from the surrounding
stone of the walls. They cannot be toppled over, but they can be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check.

Braziers: If tipped over, each brazier creates a burst 1 zone of greasy smoke that provides total concealment to those within it. The zone lasts until the end of the creature’s turn that tipped over the brazier.

Mud Wallow: The mud here is roughly knee-deep to a Medium creature, and the wallow is considered difficult terrain.

Tables: A character can jump onto a table with a DC 20 Athletics check (remember the –2 penalty to Athletic checks imposed by the muddy squares).
Anyone behind a table has cover (–2 penalty to attack rolls against him) and anyone beneath the table has superior cover (–5 penalty to attack rolls against him). The tables are solid stone and are bolted to the floor; they cannot be tipped over.[/sblock]

"Jax, that frog has Ingot! We have to stop it before it gets away!"

Crag makes a running leap across the muddy ground and lands next to Ingots biological prison. Slicing across with his longsword, he cuts a gash into the creatures side. Muck slides off of the giant frogs body and melds with Crag's chassis and crystalizes into a diamond-like substance.

"Spit him up you beast!"

- Move: from H2 > G2 > F3. Jumps to B7 as part of this move action with a 21 Athletics check. (21/5 =4 squares)
- Standard: Uses Earth Shield Strike on Giant Frog and hits for 8 damage. Crag gains a +1 power bonus to AC until the end of his next turn.
Free: nothing, I like Rrek's mark right where it is :)

Note on Warden's Fury and Warden's Grasp:

Warden's Fury gives me a free attack against any of my marked foes adjacent to me that attack any of my allies
(as an Immediate Interupt). If it hits, it does my normal basic attack damage, but it also makes the target
grant combat advantage until the end of my next turn.

Warden's Grasp lets me slide any of my marked foes within 5 squares of me that attack any of my allies. The
slide is one square and it also slows them and doesn't allow them to shift until the end of it's turn (this is
an Immediate Reaction). [/sblock]

[sblock=Ingot] It doesn't really matter for the last 2 saves that you've rolled, but just so you know, the Warforged save bonus vs ongoing damage is +2, not +1. Just thought you should know in case you roll an 8 :) [/sblock]

Jax hesitates underneath the table as Crag leaps into battle with the giant frog.

[sblock=For DM's eyes]The way these tables are designed, are there any ledges on the underside that would support the tiny stone Ezren gave Jax? If not, he might try chucking it into the nearby brazier. Now seems a good time with everyone 30ft away and distracted by the fight.[/sblock]

Dorn ducks out of the way as the giant frog continues digesting his warforged ally (shift one square SW). He tries to blast it with lightning, but the beast somehow manages to dodge at the last second (Lightning Strike misses).

Still quite comfortable underneath the table, Jax lays another bolt into the crossbow's catch, aims at the escaping frog, and pulls the trigger. Twang! The projectile hurls across the room and into one of the frog's forelimbs. It is either a very poor shot - for missing all vital organs - or a very well aimed one - for missing the frog's filled stomach.
