A Simple Errand (DM:renau1g, Judge: covaithe)

Ingot continues to struggle but to no avail.

"Jax, that frog has Ingot! We have to stop it before it gets away!"

Crag makes a running leap across the muddy ground and lands next to Ingots biological prison. Slicing across with his longsword, he cuts a gash into the creatures side. Muck slides off of the giant frogs body and melds with Crag's chassis and crystalizes into a diamond-like substance.

"Spit him up you beast!"

Dorn ducks out of the way as the giant frog continues digesting his warforged ally. He tries to blast it with lightning, but the beast somehow manages to dodge at the last second

Still quite comfortable underneath the table, Jax lays another bolt into the crossbow's catch, aims at the escaping frog, and pulls the trigger. Twang! The projectile hurls across the room and into one of the frog's forelimbs. It is either a very poor shot - for missing all vital organs - or a very well aimed one - for missing the frog's filled stomach.

Rrek takes up a defensive posture but can't shake the cobwebs from his head.

Total defense - save (1d20=1) fails save, still dazed...jeez[/sblock]

The staff wielders moves through the mud with ease, his comfort in the sticky substance granting him ease of movement. He opens his mouth again and a blast of lightning emanates out, catching Dorn and Crag in the blast. They feel their joints stiffen up as the currents run up and down your nervous system.

The giant frogs tongue quickly shoots out, pulling Dorn back to the current spot. It then jumps once, then once more, heading towards the door with its meal.

[sblock=Crag]
HA! Almost bloodied you![/sblock]

Giant 68 uses tongue grab as a minor - vs ref (Dorn (1d20 5=20) pulls Dorn to current spot, then shifts 4, then shifts again (double move) (currently 'squeezing')

staff 66 moves to current spot uses Electric Reflux - vs ref (Dorn, Crag); cold/thunder dmg (1d20 8=16, 1d20 8=15, 2d6 4=12) hits both for 12 cold/thunder damage and Dazed (save ends)

Staff 66 - perfect

[sblock=terrain features]
Illumination: A trio of braziers burning a pungent fungus provides illumination in this room. The braziers provide bright illumination out to 4 squares, with spaces beyond this ranged counting as dim light.

Ceiling: The ceiling is 15 feet high.

Bookcases/Shelves: The large bookcases and shelving units in this room are 10 feet high and have been magically shaped directly from the surrounding
stone of the walls. They cannot be toppled over, but they can be climbed with a DC 15 Athletics check.

Braziers: If tipped over, each brazier creates a burst 1 zone of greasy smoke that provides total concealment to those within it. The zone lasts until the end of the creature’s turn that tipped over the brazier.

Mud Wallow: The mud here is roughly knee-deep to a Medium creature, and the wallow is considered difficult terrain.

Tables: A character can jump onto a table with a DC 20 Athletics check (remember the –2 penalty to Athletic checks imposed by the muddy squares).
Anyone behind a table has cover (–2 penalty to attack rolls against him) and anyone beneath the table has superior cover (–5 penalty to attack rolls against him). The tables are solid stone and are bolted to the floor; they cannot be tipped over.[/sblock]

Jax continues to skulk about beneath the stone table. He creeps a few steps to set up a better trajectory to the giant frog, reloads, and then snipes once more. His target is a good 75 feet away but, despite the range, the bolt flies true. It slams into the behemoth's side, passes through its body, and takes a chunk of flesh with it into the opposite wall.

[sblock=actions]Move: move to H3. Stealth check at the end of the move for a 19. If that beats the frog's passive perception, Jax is hidden (I'll assume a 19 makes it).

Minor: reload crossbow.

Standard: Sly Flourish at Giant 68. If I'm drawing my imaginary lines right, the frog does not have cover for the attack (good thing for the big doorway). With combat advantage and a -2 for shooting at long range, the shot hits AC 21 for 21 damage.[/sblock][sblock=Jax stat block]Jax- Male Kobold Rogue 1

Dorn's head spins as lightning courses through him. He instinctively reacts, sending lightning of his own streaming forth, but it dissipates in a cloud of static (Lightning Strike misses). Though his attack fails, the force of effort helps to clear his head (Saved vs dazed)

[sblock=Re:Crag (to R1)]
Actually... you didn't take into account the 5 temp HP that Crag gained on his last turn, so he should actually have 30 HP, not 25. Your electric reflux is kickin' Crag's butt though ;) [/sblock]

"Oh no you don't! You're not getting away that easy!"

Crag sprints after the giant frog and leaps over the pool of muck that lay between him and the retreating frog. Landing with a grunt, Crag uses his momentum to lean forward, pushing his sword forward at the same time. The blade slides into flesh, but Crag angles the strike so that it doesn't pierce into the belly so as to avoid hitting his friend.

[sblock=Actions]
- Move: Run Action (speed +2; grant CA until start of next turn): Crag moves from B7 to -G9, leaping over the pool of mud with a 19 Athletics check (19/5=3 squares, enough to get over the mud).

Note on Warden's Fury and Warden's Grasp:

Warden's Fury gives me a free attack against any of my marked foes adjacent to me that attack any of my allies
(as an Immediate Interupt). If it hits, it does my normal basic attack damage, but it also makes the target
grant combat advantage until the end of my next turn.

Warden's Grasp lets me slide any of my marked foes within 5 squares of me that attack any of my allies. The
slide is one square and it also slows them and doesn't allow them to shift until the end of it's turn (this is
an Immediate Reaction). [/sblock]

[sblock=R1] Oh yeah, oops... I forgot about being Dazed... [/sblock]

[sblock=Font of Life] Crag saves vs. Dazed (at the start of his turn) with a 13, allowing him to complete his actions from the above post. [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Hoorah, I think that kills the frog! Thanks, guys!

Does Ingot still need to make a saving throw or does that automatically set it free?[/sblock]

[sblock=Ingot]
No saving throw needed, you're free as Crag slices the beast open. You still have to wait until next turn though as you were stunned during this round and can't delay out of the condition. At least you can take out the last staff guy frogman [/sblock]

Ingot pushes its way out of the dead frog's mouth, its armor and chassis covered with corrosive slime. Though obviously a bit worse for the wear, the warforged's expression is one of slight bemusement. "Now that was certainly a new experience..." it says.

[sblock=ooc Rrek]Boring as it might be, I think the best NPC action for Rrek is still total defense. He just can't do much while dazed, he's alone(*) in the room with the staff frog, and his hp are fairly low, so the extra defense might come in handy. I think he also has cover where he is too, and if he moves he'd lose that.

* oops, Dorn is in the room too I guess. If Rrek could mark the staff guy from where he is it might be worth it, but he can't...[/sblock]
