(OOC: I've seen rules for camel costs in several places. The most expensive I've ever seen is the one in Sandstorm, which is 100 GP. I'd go with that as a rule of thumb since it's WotC. Also, even with combat training using Handle Animal, the camel really sucks compared to a horse (one attack as a secondary weapon--yuck!) which is part of the gamist reason for pricing (I've seen horses outperform level 1 PCs in fights). If you prefer simulationist, well-bred horses were more prized and expensive than camels back in the day anyway.)

OOC: I like the 100 GP Price better ;), and we can drive a hard bargain to trade in the horses (at least 2 of which are Light war horses). Standard Light Warhorse is only 150, and I'd think they'd be less than that.

One week ago:

"I cannot say I have grown fond of Felynadaint, nor he of me, so I shall not be too sorry to see him go. But regretfully, I must inform you, Shadya, that my private funds are running low. I have had expenses that only wizards incur... scribing inks and scrolls do not come cheap. Moreoever, I feel I would look somewhat foolish riding a camel through Market Avenue in Orussus, so I would ask that we treat the purchase of camels, if we do so, as an expense from the travel fund, though Felynadaint's price came from my own purse."

OOC: how I wish I were in charge of bookkeeping like Solange.

A week ago: Kurgahz shifts his gear off his horse "Scar" and gets it equipped and fastened down on his new camel ..."Humpty".

"You spit on me once and I'll club ya." Kurgahz threatens the beast as he gets his gear stowed.

OOC: Great. Just great. Now look what I've done to myself. Now I've got the song "Humpty Dance" stuck in my head. Oh well, nothing to do but share the pain and lessen it by diluting it. :]

"Well... you are much larger than my horse," Conuld comments to his new camel, "but I see no reason to choose a different name. If anything Felynadaint is even more appropriate for you. Let us see if we get along better."

OOC: Conuld purchases enough trail rations that he has 30 remaining as we reach Irid (-17 gp or so since my last character update). He's now down to 39 gp and change, and someone needs to pay another 50 gp for the camel.

Shadya exchanges her two warhorses for camels, and adjusts the saddles accordingly.

OOC: Yeah, bookeeping. Fun! :( What happened to the Tal-Zij's money anyway?
