A Sojourn in Sairundan [Judge: Manzanita]

OOC: Rae, you said the camels need 25 gallons every 2 weeks? Then why would they run out in 6 more days? Shouldn't that be 13 more days till they go dry if they started at 'full'?

Kurgahz can create 16 gallons of water each day, minus 2 gallons for each character leaves 6 gallons. If each camel drinks one of those gallons each day, then it will extend the time till they run out or run dry. How much it will extend it by depends on Rae's answer to the above question concerning their capacity and rate of use. Almost need to know how much of their 25 gallon capacity do they burn daily. So that if we refresh it by 1 gallon a day how long does that stretch it out?

How much extra water do we have that we are carrying, if any?

OOC: Just to clarify, the girls were protected by magic, right?
OOC: Absolutely. Without question. :uhoh: So... uh, Conuld routinely prepares an extended Endure Elements every day, for himself and Shadya on alternate days, and a regular Endure Elements each day for Lasair. And Kurgahz covers himself and Cludge. So *final* decision - each morning until further notice, Conuld prepares:
[sblock=Spells prepared](0) Light; Ray of Frost; Ghost Sound (DC 14); Message; Prestidigitation
(1) Enlarge Person (DC 14); Endure Elements; Mage Armor; Color Spray (DC 15)
(2) extended Endure Elements; Cat's Grace; Scorching Ray

OOC: Perhaps you're thinking Forgotten Realms tendays? In Enworld, the weeks are 7 days long, so two weeks is 14 days. You bought the camels a week before arriving at The Oasis, and they traveled in the desert for one day, so they have 14 - 7 - 1 = 6 days left. 25/14 ~ 1.78 gallons consumed/day.

Okay, regarding spells: Good plan, Trouvere. Obviously you guys have been preparing for this since the first day of the journey, so we'll say you started the Shadya/Conuld extended EE cycle a day ago. So this morning you used both your EE's (extended and non).

Kurgahz used one of his EE's. Tomorrow he'll use two. And he also used all his cantrips on water, I think. So what does that leave you with?

OOC: Shadya has 34 waterskins. Conuld, Cludge and Lasair each have, er, one. Kurgahz has two. A waterskin weighs 4 lb - does that mean they hold 0.5 gallons each? We also have Irid's barrel, bought empty, but holds 15 gallons when full.

OOC: Right. That'll keep us going for awhile at least till we can hopefully find an oasis or something. If we can figure out the daily water usage of a camel, I'll be able to calculate how long we can go before burning through all that water we've got.

Edit: Just saw Rae's edit. D'oh! Forgot that we bought them a week ago. Sorry, my bad.

Cleric Spells readied: (4/2+1(Wis)+1(D) save DC= 13 + spell level)
0- Create Water x4
1- Cause Fear, Endure Elements x2, (D)Grease

[sblock=OOC] A waterskin holds 1 gallon per the PHB description if I remember correctly. Sorry, had a downed tree in the back yard, so been busy past day cleaning it up. I'm behind on my accounting. Ideally, we should be able to hit an oasis every 7 days or so, give or take a few. Load up on waterskins though boys.

as for travel, resting under tarps during the noon day sun is a good idea, so we can either travel 4 hours, rest some, travel 4 more hours, and then camp, or, travel at night (which tends not to be completely dark with moon and starlight) and rest during the day. Both are common desert practices.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Do we have a pack camel? Or is it only 5 people and 5 camels we need to worry about?

Edit: Till I find out for sure on the above question, here's what I've got. Just using Kurgahz's 4 Create Waters a day he makes 16 gallons of water. 10 are used by the party and 1 each day can be used per camel. (Even if there are 6) At this rate, the camels will not use up their retained water for 16 days. And this is before dipping into the 34+ extra waterskins we have packed along. If we don't find more water in that much time, then I may need to start using 1st level slots. (Didn't know you could do that! :))[/sblock]
